My son is the exact same way and i wish he would say mama as i am his caretaker...my daughter who is now 9 yrs old was 10 months old when she started saying mama and my son who is 22 months old only babbles...boys are slower...my son is going to a speech therapist to try to get him to talk as there is nothing wrong with his hearing.

My daughter and two sons started saying mama about 11 to 12 months old.

My daughter was 2 when she started saying "mama", however my son was 19 months when he started. If it's your first child, they're usually slower as they don't have a sibling to learn from. Good luck!

mine was probably 15 months or so. it came a month after the first word ("dada") and the second ("arf" ... geez, that killed me!). don't worry about it. before you know it she'll be saying "I love you, mommy, thanks for playing with me this afternoon." :-)
