I know it can not be cured but surely it can be controled. Doctor has prescribed all kinds of things and it will start to control it and then goes right back to the way it was. He changes to another and the same thing. Anyone have any suggestions.

Had the same problem and results. Everyone is different and responds to different treatment. These are the two that worked for me.

Scalp ... use any type of "dry scalp" formula shampoo. Can be generic or name brand but has to be for dry scalp. You can also use on your eyebrows if needed. Can not switch to other type .. must continue and will control it.

Elbows, knees etc. Tried all the prescription and over the counter medications but funny only one thing worked ... don't know why I tried it but .... Breck makes a "for baby" Lavender Creamy Baby Oil. Comes in a tube and actually I got it at a dollar store. Softens the area and makes it less noticeable in a few days when the crust softens. Soon the area started to reduce in size and over a couple of months of three times a day use .. it is almost under complete control.

Use it after every shower or bath and before bed.

Everyone is different so this may not work for you but worth the try .. least expensive way ... funny how that worked out.

You have already stated that it can not be cured and only controlled. Ivgeno, above, has made some useful suggestions, amongst which is the fact that everybody reacts differently to different medications. Amongst the non-prescription meds, I would add a hydrating cream that contains a significant percentage of aloe vera.
Amongst the prescription medications, I would add Protopic, which is topical tacrolimus and is an option when the condition is not controlled by maximal topical corticosteroid treatment - like Daivobet - or if there is risk of important corticosteroid side effects, particularly skin atrophy. There is also an injection and / or tablets of Methotrexate which is usually prescribed by the specialist only, and is used not only for psoriasis which is unresponsive to conventional therapy, but also for Crohn's disease and malignant disease. It is also prescribed for psoriatic arthritis and rheumatic conditions. The cutaneous solution of Diprosalic is often used for psoriasis of the scalp, making sure to use no more than 60mg per week as it too, contains a steroid. Apart from mentioning that there are many herbal remedies I think that I will leave it there, There are many treatments for psoriasis, a great many of which contain coal-tar. It is, unfortunately, sometimes only by trial and error that the correct medication is finally found which has a satisfactory result. You would be advised to be guided by your dermatologist and I trust that you will succeed in obtaining relief from your symptoms.

Hope this helps

I had a 13 year history of psoriasis, though I was in good health otherwise. But these severe large, thick and scaly excoriated plaques on my neck, ears, trunk and limbs ruined the way I was leading my life. I would be with red, inflamed itchy skin for most part of the year and these silvery scales would seem to be erupting without any reason. To make matters worse, blisters would appear over already red and itching skin. It was living hell.

I was treated with various options but nothing seemed to be working. Some of the treatments that I underwent in this depressing period of 13 years included tar preparation, tropical steroids and anthralin. I was also given light therapy many times but everything I tried would give me temporary relief.

And soon, after a few days I would be plagued with the situation again. In one of those moments when I was completely lost I stumbled upon this website just by chance. I read it and felt that as if someone had put the story my life on this web page. I was thoroughly convinced that if ANYONE can cure me of condition, it would be you.

And was I right, or what. I started recovering within 3 days of starting this treatment. Something that had become a painful part of me for 13 years was actually getting healed! My ears are healed and my neck is smooth again!. I am a month into the treatment and I have never felt better in my life!
