She probably will do just fine- but you may have a few expressions that she'll get a kick out of.
Ex. How you going? (American- How's it going?)
I was so pissed. (American- I was so drunk)
Have you seen my jumper? (American-Have you seen my sweater?)

As a n American who worked for CBA I can let you know my experience.
There are many phrases and expressions you use that are confusing.
For example "Up to p u s s y's bow" might throw here for a bit.
Your rhyming usage is also confusing. If you are talking to her and you need to absolutely get your point across try not to use colloquialisms.
And of course there are nouns that are only native to Australia so even if you use High English she might still not know whgat you are talking about.
If she is smart she will pick up a copy of (or maybe you can get for her) the Australian Phrasebook published buy Lonely Planet.

Of course they do! There may be some words that are unfamiliar, but 99% will be mutually comprehensible. I have lived in the USA, Australia and the UK and apart from a double-take on 'pop the trunk' (US Eng for 'open the boot') and a few other expressions, have never had any problems.

Isn't it amazing how the English Language has been twisted every which way and now we all (the world over) have a different dialect?
I love foreign accents and the Australian dialect I find delicious. I watched their soap operas for years and really enjoyed them all.
Has anyone ever see "Prisoner?"

Yes you can. They sound more like a British accent but with a twist. It's different . . . but most of the time you can understand it.

Just don't mention fags or fanny and you will be fine. I lived in the US for 2 years from England and they were the only words that got me in trouble.
