This is a religious question .....
Are there any things I should not do while I am there ...?
Like get really, really drunk and make out with my boss ... would that be considered unethical ......????
Any tips you can give me will be very much appreciated ....
Thanks ....... :)
BTW, I am up for a promotion, too .....!!!

Don't go home with your underwear in your purse (if you wear them). No hummers & don't drink more than 15 cocktails

There was an article posted on the Yahoo home page, maybe last week?, about this very topic. I am currently out of work so I won't be going to any parties this Christmas season. At any rate, the top three no-no's, as I recall, were:
1) Don't drink too much, certainly don't get drunk or crazy;
2) Don't make obvious plays or ploys with the higher-ups, as this might well be misunderstood. It's okay to talk with anyone who talks with you, but don't let others think you're trying to "schmooze" your way to the next promotion, and;
3) Don't dress too provocatively. 'Nuf sed. Granted, you could come dressed in, say, bib overalls and work boots but even then somebody will misunderstand. You don't want to give your less than friendly co-workers any ammo to use against you.
I've personally never attended a party such as this, preferring to be at home with my wife and children. Anyway, if you go, I hope you do have a good time. Merry Christmas to you and all your family!

I think you should sit in the corner reading your bible, and at some point start blabbering. When everyone has had enough to drink organize a prayer meeting and condemn the heathens who are breaking the word of god. Be sure they know they have been very bad and are definitely going to hell. In the meantime keep an eye on the other girl who is up for promotion because she will probably be under a table giving the boss a good time, and discussing her promotion.

we would desire to have a Christmas lunch someplace....i'm uncertain what is going to take place yet. it extremely is going to easily be a time to celebration and communicate over lunch....it extremely is often extremely relaxing! In years long handed by utilising, there was once a larger occasion in our problem-loose room around Christmas time the place the nutrition replaced into in simple terms drinks and nibbles....extremely lots of individuals used to come lower back! That replaced right into a extra powerful hazard to speak to human beings and have a physically powerful time.....i'm uncertain if it extremely is going to take place this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, however.

My boss bats for the other team, so no problems there.
I actually swore off office parties this year (because my lab is shared by departments, I have 3 that I'm part of) because the socialist in me decided that I really didn't want to socialize in a system where 30% of the people make over $250,000 and 60% make over 100,000 and I'm in the other 10%.

I don't think this is a religious question..but an ethics question.
yep kissing the boss would be unethical...
Then there would be the question....which of you are married... then that would be a religious problem ...
violation of one of the Commandments.. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
And of course if you kiss the Boss and you get that promotion.. are you sure you want to thought of as a "Super Suck up???"

Make out with everyone, so the Boss will see that you are an equal opportunity employee. And yes, getting really, really drunk would be unethical, but I don't think getting just really drunk is???:)

Yeah, you probably don't want to have a reputation as the office drunkard. Even if everyone at the place gets that reputation, you'll be respected for your moderation.
But, after the office party is over, go out to the bars with the sales team. They'll respect you /more/ if you drink heavily with them.
Congrats on the promotion! :)

I'd say start by wearing no panties and a very short dress. You know the type where you have to have two hair do's. Next, make out with the boss' boss. If it happens to be a woman then bonus!

Act really drunk and start acting like you belief in the FSM and be real serious about it and keep repeating parts of the story like they are not hearing you.
Thank offer nooky with the boss but make him call you his noodle and you call him son of FSM.

Depending on your boss' personality, the making out might actually help with the promotion.
It's up to you to decide whether you want to wait around for your talents to be recognized, or take the easy way out.
(PS--you're not the church secretary, are you? That might change things.)
