In my dream the snakes were in my home and would not leave. I even grabbed one and threw it outside and it somehow got back inside my house. I eventually got a kitchen knife and cut the heads off of both snakes and wondered why I didnt do that from the begining.

In scripture Satan is the serpent. Are there things going on in your home that you do not approve of? Cutting the head off of a snake is certain death for the snake which can be symbolism of sin or dealing with something that is trying to overtake you or your home. You didn't do it in the beginning maybe because you didn't feel like the situation was that big of a deal but, recently the thing or situation that has been allowed is starting to bug you so, you dealt a final blow to get
rid of it. Just an opinion.

That's like in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2, Neville cuts the head off of the snake Nagini with a knife/sword.

Dreams are symbols of the unresolved emotions in your conscious state. Snakes represent change (as in shedding their skin as they grow) and another representation is healing - snakes were all over the early healing temples and are the symbol on the AMA staff. It would appear that you are once again fighting against the changes appearing in your life. You pray for change then cling to the old and tried (rather the devil I know than the one I don't?)

In my opinion you will be tempted and even when you try and throw out "sin" it will get back in. You need to sharp word of God to kill temptation and sin.
