Um, according to Wikipedia their crime rate is similar to other European nations and has been rising since the 1950's. There may also be inconsistencies in comparison because of differing definitions of what constitutes a crime. For example, late term abortions, prostitution, and assisted suicide. You might also consider factors like homogeneity of ethnicity in Sweden verses the heterogeneous "melting pot" of America as a cause for some crimes, and the fact that America probably got more than its share of wild personality genes due to some of its original inhabitants being brought here because they were criminals, and being the new frontier probably attracted similar types.

The influx of Muslim immigrants is directly related to the increase in rapes in Sweden in the past 6 years.
