Sweetie where have you been? God doesn't need to destroy the US, our government is doing a bang up job of that without any outside assistance.

Cuz the story of Sodom & Gomorrah was bull$hit. It was concocted by a feeble mind to explain a natural occurance and it just so happened to have a moral in both nationality (Israel) and moral right(anti-homosexuality), making it an enduring tall tale.
The truth is grand, but a lie well told is immortal. I don't doubt there was an S&G, I don't doubt it was destroyed, I just think that the part about God doing it is bullcrap.

It is coming. However, right now the USA has the majority of bible believing Christians in the world. Perhaps God spares the place for the righteous that are therein. God told Abraham that if He found even 10 righteous people in Sodom, He would spare the entire city for the 10 righteous that were therein. The Christians are the "salt of the earth" and what makes it tolerable.

Hey, were only a couple hundred years old. I mean, God wants us to stew in our sinful juices another two hundred years before he savagely murders us all, like he did with Sodom and Gomorrah or the flood.

With all due respect, and I mean that, I do not believe in GOD, but if there is one, he's doing a fine job of destroying the US as it is... Look around yourself. Billions of dollars wasted per day on a senseless war. The Canadian dollar now worth more than the American dollar, I mean, the economy is falling apart and just look at Gay/Lesbian rights.... What happened there? Health care is shoddy... it's true. If there is a god, he's at work.

2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of unrighteous men.

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with Yahweh as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

2Pe 3:9 Yahweh is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2Pe 3:10 ¶ But the day of Yahweh will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

According to morons like Pat Robertson - the attacks on 9/11, and every single natural disaster from hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, and wildfires can all be blamed on the US 'turning its back on God'.

Fortunately for us, the sodom and gommorrah story is just mythology.

Just like Pat Robertsons 'God'.

The worst punishment has always been thought to be: letting someone fill up the measure of their sins. Remember the accounts of the original inhabitants of the Promised Land.
So, you are right. It is a horrible prospect.

I would suspect that it may be that there is yet a larger role we must play during these end times.
God is incredibly long suffering and patient, not willing that any should perish. Unfortunately for some, there will be a day coming that He has set when He does return with a vengeance.
I suspect that when He does return, no one on this planet will any longer know Him as Lord.

If you watch the news, you see "hell fire and brimstone" are falling everyday: School shootings, random violence, heinous crimes, abortions, AIDS, etc. We are being destroyed little by little. Proves God's grace and mercy that He doesn't wipe us all out. Each of us has an opportunity to make an informed decison about living for Christ.
