I usually make my pup a special meal for her birthday (chicken, veggies, and a bit of rice, sometimes a bit of pumpkin mixed in if I have it on hand) but I thought I'd make her something special for Christmas this year as well.
I know some people make their own 'dog food' at home. Any good recipes? Do you treat your pups on holidays?
She's small, so making about 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup per meal would be enough. I could split it for her morning and night feed if the recipe was for a cup or more (wouldn't she be thrilled!).
I just don't have the time to make her food all the time, but I think this would be a nice treat for Christmas. She gets Canidae kibble the rest of the year.

I should add- we'll be at my mom's so she'll probably get into the cat food, and she'll be a bit rumbly-tumbly anyhow. Maybe adding in pumpkin would help settle her stomach?
We try very hard to keep her out of the cat food (pick up the feeders, wash the dishes right away) but she is a wily one! And this from a dog who shuns all kinds of food. She just loves the grabage cat food my mom gives her cats (I'm trying to get her to switch).
