Has anyone ever seen this website before?

http://www.pet-abuse.com/pages/cruelty_database.php

It is so sad...you can search and read reports of animal abuse based on the type of animal or what happened to the animal. It's horrible. So many horrible people do so many horrible things to animals. Some of the stories even give you a map at the bottom, so you can see how close to home some of this stuff happens.

It's disgusting. What are your feelings on this website and the things you read? What are you doing to help prevent animal cruelty? What experiences do you have with abused animals?

Pit Bully Love - I did see your question yesterday, and I answered it! I told you that it was immature of him and that he had serious mental problems, and that I wish you could have knocked him out! I agree that that is animal mistreatment...the man clearly has no respect for animals and finds it appropriate to "mock" them by barking at your dog. He is immature and stupid!

Dog-Pro - I understand that there are many important issues in the world right now, and just because it involves animals instead of children doesn't mean that it isn't worth trying to fix. Animals have rights too. Nobody (child, dog, cat, fish) should be abused, hurt, or made to live in horrible situations.

Yes, there are many human-related issues that are very important, but that does not make the animal-related issues any less important.

And I DON'T just cry about it online, thank you very much. I volunteer at my local humane society. I am a foster mom, and I foster sick kittens, and puppies who have lived their entire lives at the HS and need socialization. I go to the HS and train the dogs, so that they have a better chance of finding a home. I stand up for the animals that can't stand up for themselves. I don't just cry about it online. I'm just using this post to try to get more people to be aware of animal abuse.

I'm sorry...I went to the site, but it is not something I can handle to look at right now. It is deeply upsetting. I really can not imagine anyone sick enough to do these things to something that is alive.

We have to be tough about animal cruelty...children need to learn at a young age how to treat other living things. When I taught fourth grade, I brought in a bucket of worms for them to examine, etc. However, before we started, I had a serious talk with them about how worms are living things and while we enjoy observing them, we have to remember not to hurt them. I was so very proud of my students...they all showed great respect for and were so careful handling the worms.

As far as being tough goes...people need to get in trouble. A stray dog had wondered into our field house one day during high school. A boy decided to kick the dog. One of the coaches didn't even hesitate...called the cops, and they actually hauled him away in handcuffs. Sure as hell set an example for anyone else ever considering do the same thing.

I adopted a lab from the pound who seems to have been mistreated. He's getting better (now that he's realizing I'm not going to hurt him,) but it was heartwrenching to see him cower while I was simply holding a banana or paper towel roll.

Finally, to the person above....or anyone else who thinks this isn't as important as other issues... Remember, we are all connected in this web of life. How we treat the other living creatures we share this planet with may effect us. If only for selfish reasons, it would be very wise of us to take care of those that depend on us...and those we depend on.

I work at a nursing home that took in a whit Lab that some on had thrown from a van. 10 Years ago. They took her in and raised her as a pet for the elderly residents. Very nice lovable dog. A office worker and I would spend our money on food & care for her. No one else there would. We would feed her and I would bring her home with me every weekend till she sick last june. Then I would bring her home & to work every day. She was Having medical problems that the Vet could not really do anything about (Bad Heart & seizures) for a year now.She was over 11 years old & passed a way yesterday.
This dog was so nice & friendly to everyone. & to think some ****** threw her out of a moving vehicle.

I see that all the time. Makes me physically ill.

I don't understand how someone could harm such an innocent creature.

My dog came from an abuse situation..makes me ill to think she was a breeding machine before the age of 1 and left outside to die.

If I ever find her previous owner - I'd probably do bodily harm.

BY THE WAY "SAVE THE PIT BULLS" Did you miss my thread yesterday? I would call what that guy did "abuse" or "mistreatment" at LEAST!

I live not too far from where Michael Vick had his dog fighting ring. It made me sick!
I rescue abused Pit Bulls and find them good homes. I have kept two of them. The first one I ever rescued was 47 lbs., no fur, covered in fleas. I could every one of his ribs and you couldn't tell he was a Pit Bull. I nursed him back to health. He now weights 103 lbs. I will do this until the day I die. Some one has to help these poor animals, they can't ask for help.

:) You're a good person for volenteering at animal shelters. I am the same way. I cry and things like that when I see animals getting abused. Or when I go to an animal shelter and see animals locked up, it just makes me sad..

Its probably the animal shelters way of getting the message out. I've seen similar story's unfold rite before my eyes and this is the tragic truth. There are lots of things you can do to help and support. And I'm sorry if this news shocked you.

If this is a very important subject to you, you should see what you can do by volunteering at your local animal shelter. They could always use donations and/or volunteers and would be able to help you do something about this.
