I just have to mention one more thing about my theory! The person who left me the comment saying," how would you like it if you and your family were in the woods and hunters surrouned you , and then killed you!"

Well, I dont think you relize what hunting is! It's not like a gang of hunters corner a deer! They dont go out in this huge groups like you are saying they are! They sit in a tree stand, alone!
And i've never heard when people can circle around a deer without it running away!
Lets use some common sense buddy!
People also can't just grab a gun and shoot something! They have to have hunting licenses!
So dont answer questions that don't even have the right information about them!

If you didn't read my other qusetion, you are going to be lost! lol

Didn't read the other question but am not lost and I agree with you. I want to know who said that because I would personally like to call him a moron. If we cornered a deer like that we would get our you know what's kicked by the deer. Hello, they have antlers have you ever seen two bucks fighting? You would never want to corner a deer like that unless of course you have a death wish. Some people can be so ignorant. It's pathetic really.

JD: Attention She did not call anyone a moron I did and I am certainly not 13. Add 13 more years to that and you will be correct. Whoever said that is a moron because a group of people do not corner a deer.

And how does that person feel about the ways chickens, pigs, and beef cattle are killed? Those are much less humane than hunting! Have they ever been to a slaughterhouse? I hope the person who left you that comment is a vegan. Even if they are, what about all of the animals killed by habitat lost to agriculture? Where does this person think that vegetables come from? They are grown on land that most wildlife can no longer use because of the way modern farming (agribusiness) is done. What about the fact that plants are alive, too? What about the bacteria that infect people with diseases? Don't they have a right to live, too?

Also, the vast majority of deer die from starvation, predation, or freezing. Being shot by a hunter is much more humane for the deer. Would this person enjoy being attacked by a mountain lion and partially eaten while they are still alive? Or starving or freezing to death?

No living thing can exist without directly or indirectly killing some other living things. There is nothing wrong about this. It is the way life has worked ever since there has been life.

We as humans have been hunter/gathers since time began. So it will always be. I enjoy hunting. I don't view it as going out and killing somthing. I like to go out in the woods/wilderness by my self or with my father and brothers and enjoy the outdoors. The sights, smells, sounds of mother nature. I carry a gun to harvest meat and a trophy because I want to. I am the top of the food chain. I always follow all rules and regulations governing hunting. If I don't get a deer, or turkey, or what ever I am hunting I still had the experience of the outdoors to reflect on. If some people don't like that, oh well. This is the United States of America, they can believe what they want and post their views. We just do not have to agree with each other. They stay out of my face and vice versa. I am a hunter, my father was, his father was and so on. You get the point. My ancestors came to Pennsylvania in 1738. They didn't go to Piggly Wiggly to buy their venison and turkey. They learned english, fought in the continental army, ( that is a whole nother discussion )and hunted. I had to add my "answer". To para phrase a radio personality Robert D Rafford," who said that? I did"

LIVY_lo,
When you thought up these 2 topics, you must have been taking some type of mind altering drugs, because, anyone that reads your statements, realize after 3 lines or less, that you don't have a clue what you are talking about.
Anything that people eat, was at 1 time alive ( this includes animals, fruits, nuts & grass. ) What this boils down to, is that ANYTHING that is eaten, has to be killed. If you & your animal rights friends, want hunters to stop killing animals, you can bet that hunters, would like for your group to stop killing things too.
Your statement that people can't surround a deer, because it will run away, is absolutely wrong. Before the invention of bows & arrows, how do you think that people got meat to eat ? Do you think ( oops, i forgot, you are not a free thinking person , no animal rights person is capable of being 1 ), that to get meat & skins, to eat & clothe themselves with, that the people of the time, would just wait for an animal to die naturaly, before the meat & skin was used ?
WHEN an animal tells me, in a language that i can understand or for that case, in any language, that it doesn,t want to be killed, i will take it under consideration.
In the mean time, WHY DON'T YOU GET A LIFE & quit trying to push your agenda of IGNORANCE on people that enjoy hunting & eating what they kill

Actually I was out a few weekends ago with 8 of us deer hunting in total. 5 people spread out and slowly push them out of the forest, barking like dogs. The other 3 wait in clearings on the other side for them to pop out. It's called a drive, and there's nothing wrong with it. We got 6 deer total in 2 days.

Most anti-hunters have major misconceptions about hunting. unless you're a vegan, there's nothing more humaine that hunting the meat you eat.

Actually, Man at times finds himself at the bottom of the food chain. Have you ever seen what a bear can do to a man? Tain't pretty.

Everything hunts. Even your friendly Tabby cats hunt, so those who say they are vegetarians are simply placing themselves at the bottom of the food chain. They risk being mistaken for a lamb by some mean predator and becoming it's meal. You know how hard it is tracking down a man-eater and destroying it? I repeat: Everything in Nature hunts. It is the natural order of things. Now, are you the hunter or the prey? THAT is the question.

Best.

You are expecting far too much from them! Those types of people are stupid sheep with about zero knowledge about nature. They are very opinionated with no data to back them up.
You would do better discussing quantum physics with a 5 year old child.

Hey Beno it's ok, no need to get all upset. I apologize if my answer upset you.

Please let me explain. I have hunted for most of my 50+ years and have always respected life and nature. When I shoot a deer I thank the creator for this animal and apologize for taking its life. I am half Native American, I was raised to respect every thing on earth even the plants and insects.

But I have had my widows smashed out in my truck from anti-hunters. My wife had blood thrown on her fur coat by anti-hunters. My children were called killers and made fun of by anti-hunter kids and even a few teachers at their school.
I had a “concerned” citizen report me to the police for skinning out what they thought was a pet dog but was a coyote that I legally trapped for a woman who was tired of it killing her animals.
I will not go on and on with all the hell that I have had to put up with anti-hunters.
So if I came on too strong I am sorry.

Wildlife management needs hunting to HELP the animals. Many on these boards have explained why. You can go to a number of web sites that explain hunting vital role in helping wildlife.

Bottom line is this; man changed nature forever. With out cities and technology we have screwed up nature. So now we have to be stewards of nature. The predators that killed the weak and over populated animals are few. And man will not tolerate predators like bears, mountain lions, panthers and such living in their urban or rural back yard. So we take the place of those predators.
With out civilian hunters the Government would have to hire thousands of Government hunters to control game animals and that would cost tens of millions.

Funny how so many people who claim to love Nature, are the first in line to deny it. They're also the sort who think they know what the Earth is feeling, and how humans should act to 'fix' the 'problems'... without ever bothering to fully understand what they're suggesting.

While I have little respect for mere trophy hunters who don't use the meat, I don't have a problem with taking a trophy when you respectfully use the meat and skin. Plenty of animals are wasteful, killing their prey and eating their fill before leaving the rest to rot (or... available for the carrion eaters, which is what some of the 'bad' hunters do, as well).

I was pretty angry when my wife and I came across a dead deer in the woods behind our house, antlers removed and left to rot.
