I had a patient who was ALLERGIC to HERSELF. SERIOUSLY!!
It happens....she actually goes into anaphylactic shock from it. Had hives, wheezing, her throat was closing, and blood pressure was dropping. She had had it before, so she KNEW what it was. DID NOT eat, drink, touch, smell, or go near anything she was otherwise allergic to.
This is a relatively rare condition, but, it does happen.
A related one, is "exercise induced uticaria"....being allergic to exercise. Same thing happens, but, only when they are exerting themselves...doesn't have to be AT a gym---could be shoveling snow, doing house work---scrubbing hard at something, lifting something heavy, or even....ummm, well, you know...the "horizontal aerobics".

I used to be allergic to the smell of skunk. I would break out in hives and get hoarse with a very sore throat.
