TO THE ASKER:
'messianic jews' are Christian. They are not Jewish. Nobody who believes that Jesus was the messiah and part divine can be Jewish. Judaism alone defines who is Jewish. 'messianic jews' share all the same beliefs as any other Christians. 'Real' Jews ARE messianic - we believe that the real messiah will come, we just don't accept it was Jesus. 'messianic jews' are not accepted by anyone in the worldwide Jewish community; all they do is distort and misrepresent all that Judaism stands for.
*sigh* As a Jew, may I address some of the previous answers? :)
To the person who said that 'Jesus did not practise Judaism' - oh dear, someone really hasn't quite grasped the basics now, have they? Jesus lived and died as a practising Jew. Judaism was the only faith he ever knew. He never, ever stated that Judaism should be replaced or set aside. Why would G-d, having made an ETERNAL covenant with the Jews, suddenly do an about face and recant?
To 'CONSIDER' - I have read your posts several times and you keep repeating that only someone born into the faith can be Jewish. WRONG! Yes, if your mother is Jewish, you are too. But ANYBODY can convert to Judaism. Indulge me while I repeat it: ANYBODY CAN CONVERT TO JUDAISM.
We are not a 'race'. Once someone converts, they are as 'Jewish' as anyone born to a Jewish mother.
To the person who was of the opinion that Jesus somehow 'started another religion or something' - the only thing he started would be what today is known as Reform Judaism. Still Judaism, just more relaxed about some of the laws.
Christianity was started decades after the Romans crucified Jesus; Paul was the real founder. Paul never even met Jesus!!!
I hope I've answered both the original question and also some of the weird and wonderful remarks made about we Jews.
DANIEL - Jesus does not 'fulfill' anything from the Torah/Tanakh because he is never referred to. You are relying on wrongly translated Hebrew. Jesus has nothing to do with the Torah; he is not relevant to it nor to Judaism. Please don't insist that you understand the Torah better than those of us for whom it actually IS the bible. You are an expert on the new testament, fine; but you do not understand the Torah.
YEAH GO ON, GIVE ME THE THUMBS DOWN. The post asked about Judaism; I answer as a Jew, I state facts and truth and I get thumbs down!!!

I'm Jewish and I don't wear sandals to work. Where I live, it's twenty below zero this time of year. You can wear sandals if you think that will make you a better person. Me, I'd just get frostbite.
You will learn much by reading the other responses (except for a few silly ones), which explain why Christians are Christians and Jews are Jews. Conversions are allowed, but they require study and seriousness of purpose. If you would like to convert to Judaism, discuss it with your local rabbi.
By the way, do you enjoy being told what you "should" believe? Neither do I. Though admittedly, it's better than wearing sandals in the winter.

WE should also ride donkeys or camels according to your "logic". Jesus was a Jew, a very devout Jew. However Christianity is centered around God who came to earth fully human (Jesus). Jesus practiced the religion of His chosen people during His time in physical form. Christians recognize Jesus as the Messiah talked about in the Old Testament. We are instructed to follow the teachings of Christ, which does not mean we have to live in poverty, convert to Judaism.. etc. We do try to preach goodwill to all and live by His example. Perhaps you should ask yourself why you feel the need to mock things you don't understand. Merry Christmas!!

I do wear sandals, except in the snow and cold temperatures. I do preach good will. The fact remains I am afollower of Christ, I believe He is the Son of God... I worship him, and He also gave me knowldege....Not wearing sandals in the snow. You have to be knowledgeable and wise. Not a fool.

Apparently, a lot of Christians do believe that Jews are the chosen ones and that anyone who is against Judaism, will be doomed to hell.
I could never understand why such believers won't convert.

Who takes organised religion seriously these days anyway? The fanatics that's who. With the world getting smaller and smaller as it is. Having people feel passionate about things that can draw extreme prejudice and hatred into the hearts of large groups of people towards other large groups of people, over things that the majority of the poeple in the group don't even understand. All based on things that happend a long time ago, and with the hazyness of the past, might not have happened at all. It's just bad crazyness.

the jewish religion does not believe that jesus came here... thats why they still live under missianic laws... because they dont believe in him.
how is jewish christain?
maybe the race yes.. jesus was a jew... lol so are you saying... we should change our race?
i do preach like jesus did...
jesus told us
The world today is filled with trouble, just as the Bible foretold. However, the prophecy about “the sign of [Christ’s] presence and of the conclusion of the system of things” contains a positive feature. “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations,” said Jesus. (Matthew 24:3, 14) The good news of God’s Kingdom is being preached in more than 230 lands. Over six million people who come from “all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues” are actively engaged in the work of Kingdom proclamation. (Revelation 7:9) What has their zealous activity accomplished? This: The message of what the Kingdom is, what it will do, and how to receive its blessings is within the reach of nearly everyone on the earth. Indeed, ‘the true knowledge has become abundant in the time of the end.’—Daniel 12:4.
we need to preach if we want this system of things and this world to be different...
oh and the wearing sandles thing is kinda... wierd. haha why would we wear sandles?? we dont wear robs either.... we have grown out of that... would jesus wear jeans? probably not.. since they were not out back in his day.. thats a silly question.

I'm assuming the question isn't serious - but I'll answer part of it anyway.
I am Jewish - and I happen to live out my life and faith in what most would term a "Jewish" way (although I'd argue it was biblical - but that's another argument for another day).
As for the rest - we're called to imitate His attitude (Philippians 2:5) - not His style of dress or mode of transportation.

Me senseth thou art trying to inflame the sensibilities of our Jewish brethren. Be at Peace, Brother! Their Messiah is coming, but not until after their having to miss the Rapture and bear through 7 years of the Tribulation. And when the world is about to be totally destroyed by fire (some believe this will be an atomic bomb), the Christ they seek -- the Christ coming in power and glory -- will appear to all and save the world.

Christ was Jewish by his nation, not religion. He partook in Jewish customs and the religion itself. Christianity is not self contradicting. We believe the Torah to be true. We believe that Old Testament prophecies to be valid. Jesus validated the Old Testament by practicing Jewish traditions and not speaking out against the beliefs. Jesus was the fulfillment to some of the Old Testament prophecies. He is the prophecied Messiah. As for being like Christ, I think you are mocking us. This isnt what Jesus meant. He meant spritially. The clothes you wear, the house you live in, Jesus cares not about earthly things. It is your heart that He is interested in. We should spread the Word. By our speech, by how we live. We should reach others through numerous ways. I agree with that. I also agree that most slef-proclaimed Christians are just in for the lip service. Jesus didnt just preach about good will, He preached about everything. Good will is great, but live has hard times in store for us too. You personally, as well as all of us, have a decision to make. Will you accept Jesus into your heart and life, or will you refuse Him? are the excuses really good enough? They werent for me. For years I hated Christianity and the people who tried to 'shove' it down my throat. Only in the past couple of months have I returned to Jesus once and for all. Im not gonna lie, it wasnt easy. I had to fall so far to accept Him. But I will not lie about this either, it was so worth it.
