Every time major updates are downloaded on my computer and its restarted nothing works right. Its a mess. I manage to return things to normal after a couple of hours and about 3 or 4 restarts. Why does this happen every time. This time 6 updates came in from Microsoft and what a mess. Otherwise I have no issue with my computer. Anyone know or have this happen to them?

I'm not sure why you are having to reboot so frequently. The only annoying time I run into the frequent reboots is when I first install the OS and have to repeatedly download updates, rescan for updates, download those updates, install those, etc... Once the system is on a regular maintenance schedule, you should only reboot for some patches. You appear to have a different problem with your system.
On a side note, wouldn't it be nice if Microsoft obsoleted patches so I could download just the latest for the new systems? Nothing worse than downloading the updates for Windows Media Player (for example), installing, scanning, and realizing that it now needs another patch or two. Other software companies and operating system companies seem to do this so I'm not sure why Microsoft doesn't.

Eric G - Don't mislead about Mac's not needing a reboot. Any patches to the kernel will require a reboot for example. I will agree though that reboots are often not required with non-MS OS's but I think a lot of the ones involving Microsoft are not really needed (just a lazy developer who wants to "reboot just to be safe").

Because it's a Windows computer and thats what you have to do. If you want a real computer buy a Mac. No restarting
