I dont get why people think hunting is so bad! All of them are like," the population is going down!" Well I have some information for them!

If there was no hunting what so ever, the population of animals would be VERY high. When you shoot an animal they dont feel anything and its a quick death. But if there was no hunting, animals would be all over the place which would cause them to bit hit by cars and that will NOT be a quick death. Also, hunters don't just shoot the deer and leave it there! They use it for meat! So everyone can't say that we are wasting the animals! So all you anti-hunters cant say that we are wasting or bringing down the population of animals.

If anyone has any comments that are against my ideas or with my ideas please answer so I can understand your point of view! Thank you!

I live in West Virginia and there are some people that hunt all year round for the fact that is what they survive on. So I think hunting is great and it brings families close together. Also it teaches a youngster lots of responsibility on how to use a firearm safely and respect the wilderness.
You are so right about the over population thing to. Can you imagine how high car insurance would raise. And all the animal lovers that are against it how they like to look out and see those beautiful deer in the woods playing and having fun would not be happening if it were not for hunting. Because the deer would be starving to death because of over population and look feeble and nasty catching disease and spreading disease.

And how does that person feel about the ways chickens, pigs, and beef cattle are killed? Those are much less humane than hunting! Have they ever been to a slaughterhouse? I hope the person who left you that comment is a vegan. Even if they are, what about all of the animals killed by habitat lost to agriculture? Where does this person think that vegetables come from? They are grown on land that most wildlife can no longer use because of the way modern farming (agribusiness) is done. What about the fact that plants are alive, too? What about the bacteria that infect people with diseases? Don't they have a right to live, too? Also, the vast majority of deer die from starvation, predation, or freezing. Being shot by a hunter is much more humane for the deer. Would this person enjoy being attacked by a mountain lion and partially eaten while they are still alive? Or starving or freezing to death? No living thing can exist without directly or indirectly killing some other living things. There is nothing wrong about this. It is the way life has worked ever since there has been life.

I killed 2 deer last week with my .300 Magnum Ruger model 77 on my land here in Floyd County, Virginia, U.S.A., and now I have meat in the freezer. I hope to kill 2 more deer this year so I will have enough meat until next fall. This summer I'll grow vegetables in my garden, and now I have peppers, tomatoes, onions, and a few other kinds of plants in my greenhouse. Tonight I picked 2 bell peppers to cook with the deer steaks. People who are against hunting are denying our natural place in the food chain as the top predator that is also capable of growing veggies to go with the steaks...

Actually Livy, you are incorrect about game population in correlation to no hunting.

In areas were hunting is not permitted, the game population generally declines in the long term. At first, populations will grow, then explode, leading to a great die-off due to starvation cause by over-population, and disease.

Thanks to the Roberts-Pittman Act taxes, we hunters and shooters provide lots more revenue for wildlife management and conservation than the bunny huggers provide.

Actually there are more animals today than there was a few hundred years ago. And that is because of wise conservation put in place by hunters. Studies show that as recent as the end of world war two the white tail deer population was very low. But thanks to the efforts of hunters the numbers have been increasing.

OK I HAVE READ EVERY ANSWER UP TO MINE AND ALOT OF IT I COULDNT AGREE WITH MORE ABOUT HUNTING
K THE PROBLEM I GOT IS WITH THE ANTI HUNTERS ACUSEING US OF BEING THE CRUEL ONES WHEN WHERE KEEPING THE ANIMALS MANAGED AND SPENDING GOOD MONEY TO BETTER THE ANIMALS HABITAT FOR THE SAKE OF GOOD BREEDING GROUNDS FOR FUTURE OFFSPRING AND BETTER GRAZING DURING THE WINTER MONTHS WHEN ALOT OF ANIMALS ARE DIEING OF STAVATION
NOW MY QUESTION IS WHO IS THE CRUEL ONE THE ONE WHO KILLS ANIMAL FOR FOOD AND MANAGMENT OR THE PEAPLE WHO WOULD RATHER SEE THE ANIMALS OVER POPULATE AND DIE OF DESIESE AND STARVATION WHICH = SUFFERING INSTEAD OF A QUICK DEATH FOR A GOOD CAUSE, WHEN ALL THE GREAT ANIMAL LOVERS THAT END UP MOVING TO THE MOUNTAINS WANT TO CRY ABOUT A BEAR,MT LION,COYOTE ATTACKED OR ATE FLUFFY U PEAPLE MAKE NO SENSE,
ALL I DO NOW IF IT WASNT FOR DEER,BEAR,RABBIT,SQURRIAL ECT. GROWING UP MY PARENTS WOULDNT OF BEEN ABLE TO FEED ALL OF US KIDS WHO NOW ARE LIVING THE HIGH LIFE HUNTING EVERY YEAR AND TEACHING OUR KIDS

I totally agree with you. I've been a hunter most of my life, and I always eat what I shoot. You also have to think of how much money is generated by the sale of liscenses, etc. and how that goes into conservation.

I agree with you 100% and if we hunters didn't go out and hunt the deer and everything else that can be hunted they would be getting into the farmers gardens and making the price of vegetables go up and everything else go up in price too. We hunters are only helping the situation out by killing the deer.

If you don't thin the herds by hunting you have over population that leads to starvation .and that has to be one of the worst ways an animal can die.

Besides the fact that everything in Nature hunts, Man is a hunter/gatherer. Wolves hunt, big cats hunt, bears hunt. Even lambs hunt for better grazing grounds. So hunting is the natural order of things.

Best.
