No relation at all. calories in and calories out. Exercise helps to burn calories and keep you body tuned. If you want to loose a few pounds, increase exercise and decrease calories, Don't compromise the quality of your food.
You might stress to your Dad that your body needs the rest so it can do any repairs required. But while you are home you may need to compromise just to keep the peace.
·It is important to maintain a good diet so you don't compromise your health. Damage done because of lack of nutrition is not worth a nice body. Some diet damage cannot be fixed.

·When you deprive your brain,(your brain craves sugar) the brain will take other body cells to convert to the elements that it needs. And the cells it takes are BRAIN cells. OOPS. I don't want to lose brain cells to have thin legs. But I would like to have both.
DECIDE TO MAKE A LIFE CHANGE TO A HEALTHY LIFE STYLE.
1) fruits and veggies, all you want, organic, raw, vine-ripe if possible. Steamed is OK, sautéed is OK even canned or frozen is OK, but lots of them.
2) limited or no meat.
3) nothing fried
4) no FAST FOOD- is junk, no nutrition, empty calories
5) NO PROCESSED FOOD. if you can't pronounce it don't eat it.
6) nothing white, salt, sugar, mayo, milk, (or at least in moderation.
7) NO DAIRY-dairy is great for baby cows, your body does not even digest it properly. check out www.notmilk.com
8) EXERCISE- and be sure to refresh your body with water and fresh fruit
9) NO PROTEIN SUPPLEMENTS. Muscle is made from water, replace the water. You get enough protein from the food you eat, You get more protein from spinach than the supplements you take and your body does not get toxic on food protein the way it will with supplements. Supplements can really tax you liver.
10) Good supplement would be Omega 3, and Juice Plus+

11) NO CARBONATED DRINKS, or at least limited. They actually dissolve the calcium in your bones.
12) Calories in calories out.
AND DON'T GO NUTS, MODERATION.

Men's metabolism is much higher than women's. I have heard that NOT being well-rested can cause weight gain over the long term because of the excess cortisol created due to sleep deprivation. If you are away at college it is very common to gain what is called the "freshman 10" due to the cafeteria diet and stress.
Waking up at 8 a.m. is fine. Start running again and the weight will come off, end of story. Waking up two hours earlier won't make you thinner.

Well, waking up late may affect some people, but not all. The reason it will affect them is the fact they will be less motivated to do anything. Not entirely sure why they lack motivation, but it happens. But yes, a workout routine would help.

I don't think there is a correlation b/w waking up late, unless you are exceeding 7-8 hours of sleep per night.

definately workout routine
however, waking up late can make some effect because you aren't exercising but it sounds like that isn't the case.
its the same for me and my lil sis. we eat the same food and do the same exercise but im still heavier than her (not only because Im older).
food just goes through some people quicker. it sounds like your healthy enough but if you feel that your not, get back on you workout routine and you will sleep better, loose weight and feel happier during the daytime.

I read that the opposite is true. People who get their 8 are able to maintain their body weight better because the body that gets as much sleep as it needs creates hormones that regulate weight so you don't gain as much were you to sleep less.
