There is no doubt that the PS3 is still an option. The PS3 is a great value and a better value even though it is just a little bit more expensive than the Xbox 360. The PS3 is a very reliable console and some of the best PS3 games are coming next year.

When you look at the trends that Sony has had with it's previous consoles, the PS3 will have the same success that the PS1 and PS2 had.

As always its always a matter of choice! By the way do you have money for a high def tv or have one already? Cuz without that, you won't get the same graphics as you see in screenshots and such. Also if you play online alot, i'd suggest a 360. But I'm on the Sony boat, and I have a launch 60gb and if this was a year ago, I'd tell you to wait on the PS3 cuz there weren't that many good games out. But now, theres a good amount of games that are out. Plus like everyone said, the price has come down.

Yes.
As the first chap says, you should be paying less than $500 for it now.
Secondly, there are still plenty of games you can only get on the PS3;

Metal Gear, Final fantasy, Gran Turismo, Little big Planet,....
