i have been prescribed activan for sleeplessness due to anxiety/stress

the word is ATIVAN, it is a benzodiazepine, a sedative. There is great potential for addiction with this medication, and for growing tolerance to it...in other words, used over time, one needs increasing doses to achieve the same effect. Would recommend that you use this only over the short term, if sleep is your problem, there are sleep aids out there that are not addictive and work well over long periods of time.

It's for anxiety. Falls into the antipsychotic class. Similiar to Valium, Xanax and Klonopin
