"My deepest apologies to anyone out there who may suffer from Tourette's : this post was not meant to be taken so seriously - it was meant to be silly, ala the South Park episode where Cartman had it."
TRANSLATION:
"I have no creativity and therefore have lowered myself to the level of idiot writers whose sole purpose is to offend, not for any greater-good, but for the purely hateful motive of making myself seem better than others. This method of pointing out an emotionally painful and difficult condition of someone who is just a little bit different is the way I hurt others for cheap laughs."

In fact, there well could have been many authors of the holy texts who had Tourette Syndrome. They are often extremely intelligent with advanced vocabularies and able to grasp intellectual concepts beyond their years.
As someone already noted, the TV stereotype of cussing and cursing involuntarily is involved in a minority of severe cases.
You probably know people who have the disorder and don't realize it because their tics are mild and not all that intrusive. ( Dan Ackroyd is a famous person with Tourette Syndrome for example)
Do you know anyone who may make an occasional grimace, grunt, squeak or must always be moving their fingers or tapping ..usually highly intelligent and creative? That person may have Tourette syndrome.
Yet the stereotypes and taunts create as much disability for children with this disorder as the disorder itself. As if they don't have enough issues with learning to control impulses, they have to contend with ignorant and baseless assumptions that further lower self-esteem.
Shame on you for promoting them.
I'll try to use this as an opportunity for those who may WISH to learn the reality

EDIT: THANK you for the apology. I still sincerely hope that people who hold to the stereotypes will take this opportunity to learn the reality.
Speaking of South Park..I recently learned that show was the BASIS ( origin ) for a bizarre rumor that is making the rounds about Jews. As if we didn't have enough of those ALREADY!
Someone in Y/A asked a question in a manner that made it appear as a "legitimate" question..about Jews carrying ROCKS..and asked why Jews do this. ALL the Jewish people responding had no clue what was being asked..except a few of us thought perhaps it was a vague reference to the custom of Jewish people placing a small stone on a headstone at a cemetary when we visit the gravesite to mark that we were there.
Well, on further inquiry..I discovered they were asking about something that was apparently first on South Park..a notion that all Jews carry a bag of diamonds or jewels so that Jews can "buy" their way into "heaven" and that in order to try to fool would be thieves, they also wear a "fake" bag of rocks to be a decoy for any who would try to steal them.
Quite a bizarre story, yet I discovered there are people who SINCERELY BELIEVE THAT SOUTH PARK WAS TALKING ABOUT A REAL BELIEF! I can assure you, Jews do not believe one can buy a way to any kind of afterlife reward..and if Jews are supposed to be carrying around a bag of diamonds..I sure missed out on that one! It appears to go along with the stereotype of Jews all being rich..
So, you have learned more than one lesson here today. Don't assume that a silly TV show making fun of everyone won't either promote or create harmful stereotypes..and don't be a party to it! You can really hurt people like that.
Thanks again for letting me know you did not intend hurt.

Do you even know anyone with Tourette's Syndrome? Involuntary swearing is extremely uncommon. Of my 2 brothers who have the disorder, only one has ever involuntarily sworn and that was a one time occurrence. It's not a funny disorder in any way.

Well, contrary to popular belief, there is only a small number of those who live with TS that have vocal tics.
Most are very intelligent and have a large vocabulary.
