You have to tell your doctor, before you hurt yourself or the baby that is relying on you to care for him or her.

If you truly want to help your child you will tell your doctors about your depression. It won't get any better and might get a heck of a lot worse if you don't do some thing. There by putting your child at risk after it's born. There are new medications and you might have to be hospitalized in order to stabilize your self. I have children and I have been treated for depression since I was nine and I'm now 52, but with the help of medication and therapy girls and I have been able to deal very well. My older two are on their own and the youngest is an honor student in high school. It won't be easy but you have to put your children first and you have to get the treatment that you need so that you can care for them properly.

I've dealt with severe depression, so I know what you're going through. Do what you have to do to get through this time. Its good enough for now, that you care about your baby enough to not hurt yourself while you're pregnant. But what about afterwards. This baby is going to need someone to raise her, and that person has to be you. There are quite alot of treatments for depression(though I don't know how many you can use while pregnant). If what you're doctor's been giving you isn't working, maybe consider seeing a different doc.

If you aren't going to any counseling, you really should at least consider it. Some counselors are all about diagnosing you a with disorder, and that never works. But if you can find one who will listen to you and try to help you find solutions to make it through, it may help. It won't cure your depression, for sure, but it may be able to help you through it to have a support system.

I don't know what to tell you really, cause I know as well as you do, that other people's advice doesn't usually help since they can't comprehend what you're going through. Something that really brought me hope was finding a good church and going regularly. The people there are very accepting and supportive and just going and being able to focus on something other than myself for a while helped a lot. That's just my experience, not saying it will work for you, but at this point, what do you have to lose?

There are several new meds for depression. Sometimes when you are in the later months of pregnancy, some may be used.
Otherwise, get yourself into counseling, especially if you don't have a support system. You know, when you put things in perspective, you are having a baby. This should be a time of joy, but then again, I don't know your circumstances.
Best of luck to you, hon. I hope it all works out !
