It's my crazy ex-friend update. So this is her invite story...
Make a long story short for everyone who hasn't been following this... Got married 1 in Vegas- having giant church wedding in white gown 6 months later (redo) . Demanding shower... Demanding lavish gifts and lots of attention. I kicked her out of my wedding because she was trying to ruin it and make herself center of attention. I am getting this information from a mutual friend who is still in her wedding. This mutual friend is starting to get worried that like her shower- no one is coming!!

1. RSVP date is Jan 5th and the date for the wedding is the Jan 19th- they invites are NOT mailed out yet. She is hoping to get them outing next week!
2. It's Christmas- Hello the mail takes twice as long!
3. The invite has a picture on it from the first wedding.
4. 80% of her guest list is out of state.
5. It's for Jan in New England- Hello SNOW!
6. They have a phone number to RSVP by.

7. The half the invite was made by someone else and she is finishing them- the reception card and rsvp card herself with different paper and lettering.
8. This is suppose to be a very Formal event and she is inviting 200-250 people whom she barely knows.

What's the worst invite you have ever gotten and why?

It's just for fun- if you don't care, don't read it or respond! Some people on here like hearing about her and the drama. I just wondered if anyone else heard of anything else like this?

The groom is like an abused housewife and says nothing.... if anyone makes a comment he says it's NOT his wedding- it's Her wedding. He goes along with her bad behavior- so he doesn't have to deal with her.

Bubbles:

Thanks for the update!! I just love reading about your crazy ex-friend. It's a hoot!

Ummmm...she is certainly sending the invites late enough. Try to get one and post it for us.

Why the re-do? Or why the first one and then this one? Obviously she likes ALL the attention. I am really confused, why not just the big one to begin with?

In any case....she is in for a shock if she thinks many are going to attend. Let us know how it all goes.

Well...to answer your question. The worst invitation that I (and my whole family) received was from a girl that grew up across the street from us. We knew she was "designing" them herself and she is a graphic artist who has worked on major ad campaigns (like for Miller Beer, etc.)...so we were all excited as to what it was going to look like.

Well.....is was a sketch of two people diving into a swimming pool....with the saying "we're making the plunge".....it was SO bad. Is that all she could think of?

Keep us updated....I just love reading this ongoing saga of your crazy ex-friend!

I love the drama! keep us posted!!!!

To comment on that one, a wedding invitation witha picture of her on the OTHER wedding??? WOW! People will know that it's a redo and will not come. Other than the fact that is tacky beyond belief.

It's too late to send invites for January and right after Christmas, everyone is not going to have any spare cash to spend on lavish gifts for a redo of a married woman.

Terrible.

A phone RSVP, although convinient, may give the wrong impresion about it not being as formal or as serious.

The worst invite that I got was a prey pretty design actually, great paper and all, but it was printed on a low grade printer and the ink was all smudged, the ribbons were glued crooked, and it looked like a DIY project gone wrong.

You ex-friend is nuts. I can't wait to hear the turnaround for the future events. I suspect that she'll get a big slice of humble pie that she so desperatly needs.

Good luck

I can't believe they put a picture of their first wedding on the invite. Insane! But a phone number to RSVP is fine - especially since she hasn't mailed the invitations yet.

The worst invite I received was not receiving one. A close friend's sister was getting married and we were invited a few days before the wedding. I guess some of her guests dropped out so she had extra seats. We asked for an invitation, mainly because we didn't know where the reception was, but never got one. It was pretty annoying. We went anyway because she's sweet girl and meant well.

I got an invite from a young cousin that was obviously printed on a computer. Just one cardstock page in an envelope. No inner or outer- Stating the place and time and at the bottom it said "the bride and groom are registered at WalMart and Target" and then there was one of those tacky Target things in with it that says something like- don't forget the gift or something like that- and it was torn...
I don't think it was even an invitation now that I think about it, I think it was more of an announcement and gift grub.
I actually bought her a gift because I felt sorry for her. I don't think there were many people even going to show up and she doesn't really have any friends.
Later I got a thank you note that said
"thank you for gift we really like it" she actually said gift- she didn't mention what I got her at all...

The worst invite I ever got to a wedding was a phone call from the future groom on a Wednesday and the wedding was that Saturday! 3 days notice. Needless to say, I didn't go. I did send a gift but what a half hearted invitation.

I love your crazy ex-friend updates!

I think the worst invite I received was from my friends who got married this past April. Bride told me FMIL knew calligraphy and would be addressing the invitations with the pretty writing. Since I also know calligraphy, I offered to help writing some addresses for the invitations as well because I know how time consuming it is (I also know how FMIL is and if she says she's good at something, she usually sucks at it; I'm not being mean-- it's the truth). Bride insisted FMIL had everything under control and that I'd loooove the final results. When my boyfriend and I got our invitation in the mail, I was horrified! The letters were at least 2 or 3 inches high and it was quite obvious FMIL was either in a hurry and/or simply didn't know what she was doing judging by the way the letters were also quite squiggly and sloppy. The worst part though, was that the letters were so huge that they weren't able to fit my last name on the invite! It said "John Smith & Jane" (fake names, of course). Unfortunately, Bride is very naive and spoke wonders of the final results. We were working together at the time and FMIL's caligraphy skills were the top of the office talk for the next few weeks!

EDIT: After reading about the lavendar ink in the person above me's answer, I remembered that Bride's invitations had a lavendar theme to them. Her wedding colors were blue and yellow!

Invited to the ceremony and not the reception? specific. i declined to flow. Invited to the bathe basically? no won a save the Date and not have been given a marriage invitation to stay with? ive never seen a "save the date" have you ever been asked to pay a fee to pay for the couple's venue or forced to stay at a definite lodge so the couple can get their room or venue loose? no have you ever been asked to convey nutrition to share and a present day besides? specific, yet it extremely is popular for my city. This is better than a T.V. cliffhanger! I've been following this story as well and can't wait to find out how the actual wedding turns out. It can't be as bad as the shower, can it?

This girls wedding plans are a recipe for disaster, the time is way too short for a big wedding. There is no substitute for a professionals in getting invitations.

See if you can get a picture of it to post for us to see. It sounds classic.

The worst one I have seen was by a couple of young kids and they didnt have alot of money as most college graduates dont, so it was forgivable and honestly it was sweet.

They got one of those invitation kits and printed them out from home, but the printer must have fed the paper through just a bit lopsided and the typeset was off because of this. Then since they dont include recption cards in those kits they had to place in really small font all the reception info on the bottom of the invite. To top it off they hand addressed the envelopes, but didnt use a guideline and the addressing was slanted as well.

My SIL printed her addresses on the PC, which I dont have that big of a problem with, but my MIL asked us what we thought and didnt they look professionally done and we were both like "No they look like they were done on the computer", she was so insulted and we just couldnt believe that she would try to pass something so blatant off as hand written, the ink was in lavandar too, like anyone would believe a calligrapher would have lavandar ink. And I am now getting into calligraphy and I know they dont even make lavandar ink. I think what made it worse for her was that we had actually had our invitations written by a professional calligrapher and as they are a "keeping up with the Joneses" type of family they felt like they had to have the same, but couldnt find anyone to do theirs or afford it, I dont know which one, but they hated that we had had ours done the year before. Everything is a competition with my husbands family, its disappointing because their envelopes didnt look bad at all, they just looked laser printed, there isnt any way to make a computer printing look like an actual calligraphy pen. Those are the only two I can think of.
