When muhammed was inventing islam, he specifically rejected and denied the divine nature of Jesus, Son of the one true God. In so doing, most Christians would say that he therefore rejected and denied God Himself. Hence "allah" that is NOT God.
Further, muhammed reduced Jesus to the role of "lesser prophet" (behind muhammed). Most Christians would say that this is blasphemy and extremely disrespectful.
Rejoice in Jesus and the covenant of the New Testament for forgiveness of sin and salvation of the eternal soul thru Him.

I posted something that might apply partially to this at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aj5.lwLhqb9AyaBJ4o.55qLty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071211092107AAvmHdH&show=7#profile-info-yv7Gbg3Uaa
The context of the question was Judaism.
"I am not sure that Judaism has a set belief about Jesus, except that he is not the Messaih or the son of God. In this respect, Judaism agrees with Islam. Jewish people have a vareity of opinions about Jesus. Some might regard him a historical figure. Some of those might consider him as having been Jewish but then leaving the religion. Some might consider him to have been a radical. There are some who deny the existence of Jesus altogether.
"Muslims consider Jesus to have been a real historical figure. We believe that he was born of the Virgin Mary in an immaculate conception. I am rather certain that most Jewish people disagree on this point, as well. Muslims consider Jesus to have been a Prophet of God. We do not consider him to have been the Messiah. Our Messianic figure is known as the Mahdi. The Islamic teachings about the Mahdi can be confusing and require an in-depth explanation. Muslims do not believe that Jesus died, and we do not believe that he was crucified. They believe that he was assumed bodily into Heaven. Muslims do not believe for an instant that Jesus was the son of God, or God. We have a very strict view on monotheism and deny any partition of deity, compartmentalism, corporealism, etc. This view of monotheism is shared, to the best of my knowledge, with Judaism."

Muslims believe Jesus was human and not the son of God or God in the flesh. They believe in all his miracles not because he was God but because he was a messenger of God (Prophet Mohammed also performed miracles - I think... I am a Christian and am not 100% sure of the teachings of Islam). I recently read parts of the Quran and found that Muslims also believe Jesus spoke as a new born child... a miracle not mentioned in the Bible. Muslims also believe Jesus will return and fight against all non-believers; after the war there will be a thousand years of peace on earth - a view shared by Christians.

in islam jesus is a human being born to the virgin mary who is one of the most honorable ladies to exist and considered the purest who spent her life worshipping God .
jesus is a special prophet who suffered a lot , yet he never claimed to be God or the son of God
just because people say he did doesn't make it true
God has no relatives or associates and no prophet or any other creature including prophet mohammed deserve to be associated with God / Allah or to be worshiped in any way
we are waiting for jesus to return back and bring justice back to earth , we believe he is the messiah
he is no maniac and would never lie or hallucinate
the bible was translated so many times and has been under the influence of romans with pagan beliefs as well as the presence of secret documents in the vatican that no one can access which i don't know why because religion and info should be present to all . maybe you should question these issues.
we don't believe in many things that you believe in because we view all prophets as human beings and associating them with God or worshipping them or relating them to God as sons or others would change our monotheistic belief into polytheism .
to read more about jesus in islam and in the quraan:

These are some excerpts from the Qur'an regarding Jesus.
I realize faithful Muslims will not like the English version being posted; to them I apologize
"Behold! the angels said, 'Oh Mary! God gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him. His name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter, and in (the company of) those nearest to God. He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. He shall be (in the company) of the righteous... And God will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel'" (3:45-48).
"He [Jesus] said: 'I am indeed a servant of God. He has given me revelation and made me a prophet; He has made me blessed wheresoever I be; and He has enjoined on me prayer and charity as long as I live. He has made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable. So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)!' Such was Jesus the son of Mary. It is a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute. It is not befitting to (the majesty of) God that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! When He determines a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is" (19:30-35).
"When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: 'Now I have come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which you dispute. Therefore, fear God and obey me. God, He is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him -- this is a Straight Way.' But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement. So woe to the wrongdoers, from the penalty of a Grievous Day!" (43:63-65)
"And behold! God will say [i.e. on the Day of Judgment]: 'Oh Jesus, the son of Mary! Did you say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of God?' He will say: 'Glory to Thee! Never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would indeed have known it. You know what is in my heart, though I know not what is in Yours. For You know in full all that is hidden. Never did I say to them anything except what You commanded me to say: 'Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.' And I was a witness over them while I lived among them. When You took me up, You were the Watcher over them, and You are a witness to all things'" (5:116-117).
"Christ, the son of Mary, was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how God makes His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!" (5:75).
God Bless

We muslim believe that he was one of the mighty prophet of God. We also believe that he was born miraculously without father we also believe he was word and spirit of God bestowed on Marry.
As per your claim that he claimed to be son of God, it is based on bible. Historitcally, logically and mathematically bible is proven to be inconsistent. So, your claim is based on bible which we do not accept as authentic record of teaching of Jesus.

Who Was Jesus - peace be upon him
4 us as Muslims
Islam honors all the prophets who were sent to mankind. Muslims respect all prophets in general, but Jesus in particular, because he was one of the prophets who foretold the coming of Muhammad. Muslims, too, await the second coming of Jesus. They consider him one of the greatest of Allah's prophets to mankind. He called "Essa" in Arabic
a Muslim does not refer to him simply as "Jesus," but normally adds the phrase "peace be upon him" as a sign of respect.
Behold!' the Angel said, God has chosen you, and purified you, and chosen you above the women of all nations. Mary, God gives you good news of a word from Him, whose name shall be the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, honored in this world and in the Hereafter, and one of those brought near to God. He shall speak to the people from his cradle and in maturity, and he shall be of the righteous. She said: "My Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me?' He said: "Even so; God creates what He will. When He decrees a thing, He says to it, 'Be!' and it is." [3:42-47]
Muslims believe that Jesus was born immaculately, and through the same power which had brought Eve to life and Adam into being without a father or a mother.
"Truly, the likeness of Jesus with God is as the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust, and then said to him, 'Be!' and he was." [3:59]
During his prophetic mission, Jesus performed many miracles. The Quran tells us that he said:
"I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it and it becomes a bird by God's leave. And I heal the blind, and the lepers, and I raise the dead by God's leave." [3:49]
Muhammad and Jesus, as well as the other prophets, were sent to confirm the belief in one God. This is referred to in the Quran where Jesus is reported as saying that he came:
"To attest the law which was before me, and to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden you; I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear God and obey me." [3:50]
Prophet Muhammad emphasized the importance of Jesus by saying: "Whoever believes there is no god but Allah, alone without partner, that Muhammad is His messenger, that Jesus is a servant and messenger of God, His word breathed into Mary and a spirit emanating from Him, and that Paradise and Hell are true, shall be received by God into Heaven. [Bukhari]

he is our prophet Isa(alaihissalam). he was jst the the messenger who gave others the message. N he is NOT son of god. god doesn,t have a son, wife, children , mother. father, or any1. he is jst himself. no1 is there equal 2 Allah.
so Isa(a.s) dint say 2 believe in christianity. he dint bring up a religion like tht. bt the peiple @ tht time did it. Isa(a.s) said his people tht a messenger--muhammed(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) will come unto them and they shud believe in him but they dint believe.thts their fault. thats the view thtsit.
