The Trinity doctrine in and of itself has it's basis in ancient pagan beliefs. The Assyrians, Egyptians and Greeks all believed in triune gods. While a small handful of scriptures are used to prove the trinity as scriptural, when taken in context with the rest of the Bible, they truly don't.

The bottom line is Jesus said "the Father is GREATER than I am". And God himself said, "I am Jehovah (or the lord). That is my name. And to noone else shall I give my own Glory"
