My son was arrested in Chicago. Minor offense. Trial date set and released. He was on the street and had no place to go. We got him a ticket to AZ. His date is in January. What should he do? He is not going back to Chicago.

He needs to go back and appear or there will be an outstanding warrant against him. That adds to the penalty if he is ever caught and sooner or later he will be.

If the offense is one that can be settled by paying a fine; then he may be able to call the court in Chicago and find out the amount he will owe. I'm not sure about this, but hey, it won't hurt to try. I'd definitely do something before his court date.

It likely depends on the offense. Loitering or some other petty misdemeanor could probably be taken care of with a check if you call the Cook County prosecutor's office. If a gross misdemeanor with a necessary visit to Chicago is called for, get him there or as the others have said, it will haunt him.

He needs to appear or a warrant will be issued and he'll have problems from there. It will also go on his credit reports, and will show up if Chicago's DMV is connected to AZ's. Not all DMV's share connections to others.

If it's just a minor offense then why is he going to back to court? If he doesn't want to contest it then have him find out what the fine is and he can pay it by registered mail.

You really need more information in order for me to help you. Was there a complainant, or was it just a ANOV (city citation). Depending on what the charge was will depend on whether your son will have a warrant. Good Luck

Appear or he will have a warrant for his arrest in Chicago forever. Arizona will also suspend his drivers license (if he gets one) on behalf of Illinois BMV
