We were dating for a month when we decided to take a step back and stay as friends. We both admited things were going too fast and his job was taking most of his time. We still have feelings for each other but it wouldn't be fair to pursue a romantic relationship at this time. I did set some ground rules (no friends with benefits, just friends) and agreed to it. Is it possible for us to be good friends? He also think it's a great because we can learn more about each other as friends.

Please mature replies. We're in our mid-20s.

It is possible and this does happen. I have two friends who dated in high school for a short time and they ended up being the best of friends after high school. It has been 15 years they both have families and are still friends to this day.

It might seem like a weird thing to say but I think it made them better friends after they knew they weren't right for each as a couple.
