Christians would have a hard time collating a cohesive set of rules rather than cherry-picking from the OT and NT, which are rife with contradictory ideas. I hear many Christians speak of the rules of the OT as "fulfilled" by Jesus, so they don't have to follow OT rules, then they insist that the 10 commandments are still viable. That's inconsistent. Unless there is someone who can straighten me out? Are we supposed to love everyone, or eye for an eye? Are we supposed to turn our cheeks or fight in wars? Are we supposed to abstain from mixed fibers since Jesus only revoked the dietary laws specifically? Do you even know, and if so, how?

I'm getting the impression that Christians can't answer this question... that's so effed up.

What you're talking about is people following religions, and not necessarily following Christ. Denominations.

Follow Christ, and the rest works out.

I am sorry you are having such a hard time and I hope I can be of some help to you. God wants you to know about His Word, but just like anything else, you won't learn as much as you can if you don't study as much as you can and ask God for understanding. Although we're no longer under the OT law, it is still helpful to us because it gives us God's basic standard for righteous living. We are suppose to love everyone although we don't have to love the wrong things they do. To turn the other cheek only means to forgive. Think about it...God is not stupid. When He told us to turn the other cheek, He knew we only had two cheeks. However we are to forgive each other over and over again. Just like He forgives us over and over again every day. To forgive is not to accept people using you, taking advantage of you or mistreating you and you do or say nothing about it. But it does mean to not hold a grudge. Meaning: once it's gone, you don't hold evil thoughts towards that person. I'd stay away from them but would still not have evil thoughts against them. I'd stay away to protect myself from what I know they are capable of doing to me. There was a time we didn't mix fibers for what ever reason there was but now, most all fabrics are mixed. So what are you going to do? I understand that to mean your heart should be kept pure. Don't mix your life with all these rituals from different religions. And keep yourself prepared for God's use. The way you do that is read the Bible daily and meditate on it. Ask God what He expects from you and to show you how to do it. He will help you because He wants you to know. He said, if you seek Him with a sincere heart, He will be found. Be real with Him since you can't fool Him anyway.

Christians are supposed to be led by the Spirit of God that resides in one who believes the gospel.

All the o.t. is irrelevant. Christians were never a party to that covenant law. This includes the ten commandments.

The n.c. is about having love for even an enemy. But if an enemy is intent on killing you or another, then you defend the right and the upright.

So your question is answered, if you have the eyes to see it.

May the earthly sages shoot me dead on all sides for saying BUT on earth with all peoples you have all sorts of fit to make a whole much like a family, much like what's in Torah. You have rebellions and really good people, you have the very wise and you have poor people (in spirit).
So on earth what if we had no Jews or no Christians or why in the world id Hasidim come forth? Somehow I feel we may all need this and also like we need to see bad to find our good and so on. As far as what rule or what road, hell each to our own I suppose. I have seen grand authorities on this before and I just assume worship in a cave of bats with shat than live with that.

You are correct in your thinking that Christianity requires alot of decision making. The ten commandments are a guideline only. The dietary guidelines were relevant at that time. We are supposed to love everyone and Christianity is not based on pacifism. (Althought some Christians can be pacifists) Good questions even though they have been asked before.

I think it was a total of 613 laws, some very violent, given to the Hebrew in the OT...

Jesus seemingly abolished some of these laws, but He actually gave us the "heart" of these laws...

As a matter of fact, Jesus said to love God and Man, and all the rest just hang on those.

So throw another shrimp on the barbie!!!

It's all a bunch of lies. You'll never discern the truth on the subject. There are many earthly powers that be which hold the answers that are kept secret from us. No one here knows anything other than what they have been told when it comes to organized religions. There have been so many lies. Look at all the versions of the bible. Look at all the different religions on earth. Neither one has it right or wrong. They are all interpretations of law, before there was law, there was religion!

There are as many different 'styles' of Christianity as there are Christians.

The ones that say 'only accept Jesus as your personal savior' will even admit they think there is more to it when you go into stuff like how one should behave and what you should think of stuff like abortion and homosexuality and stem cell research. If you go on the really liberal side, there are even those that believe that you don't even have to believe God exists, as long as you follow the teachings of Jesus. And there are those that believe that Jesus came just to be a sacrifice and barely bother trying to live by his teachings...

Like I said, there are about as many styles of Christianity as there are Christians.

I really wish I could answer all your questions but I can't. I just know that I love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and I have felt his spirit within me since I chose to accept him. I don't try to explain everything in the Bible I just try my best to live by it's word and accept the things I can not change. I guess that's why they call it faith.
