Jesus fortold for our day this work: "This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; then the end will come."---Matt. 24:14

Thank you Lover of Jehovah and Jesus but I think I may stick to door to door witnessing and thanks to the Sister who pointed out what was said at the assembly! Very noteworthy!

Looks like you got your answer Ladybug. Others here have said they've spoken to their elders as well. I think the caution about the internet has more to do with immoral websites and on-line dating and such, but that's just me. I happen to use the internet a lot, including for work.

Caveman: No, we don't have a quota (unless you've committed yourself to one in the form of full time service), but we do report the amount of time spent preaching, even if it's as little as 1 hour.

Sunnyann: That was very sweet :)

Adam's Rib: I think you have a good approach. I don't generally count my time on here anyway but I like that thought.

My grandma used to go door to door all the time. She has arthritis and it is real hard for her to write letters. so she got real depressed until grandpa bought her a computer and finding out she could witness from her wheel chair she was happy again.
They moved to where the need was great when they retired and so almost everyone is a long distance call. That is difficult on Social Security.
so the computer was the answer to her. She had learned to type and she comes on answers and answers questions.
She still goes out sometimes but she is crippled from when she broke her leg in 6 places and has plates and screws.
Now she sits at the computer and answers bible questions.
Spending lots of time doing that but she only reports 10 hours a month. Another sister has both legs cut off at the knees and has diabetes and purchased a computer when she found out what she could do. Going into the Watchtower web site and reading stuff they are happy.
They send material about the organization and stuff back and forth. She has her own circle of friends from New Mexico to Florida. One friend is 84 she writes her every day.
20 miles from the hall it keeps her connected. She is the only witness for several cities around her.
this keeps her very happy. So she counts the time.
So does some of the others, one old brother who had a stoke and is crippled preaches with one finger. He talks to them all the time. They have thier own little group.
It is kind of cute.

The elderly sister that studies with me is on here all the time.
She met me in the door to door but then became so crippled up we studied by the computer. WE exchanged E mail addresses. she gives me encouragement everyday I look forward to her E mail.
She found someone on answers who asked her a question he is in South Africa, and she has one study she found on answers in Australia. She has friends she has meet on here from one end of the country to the other.
She sits in her wheel chair and talks about the bible all day long. some of these foreign countries it is very hard to go into and witness so this is the way to reach those people.
She has a group of friends on 360 all elderly witnesses.
They talk all day with each other.
Just getting to a meeting is very difficult for her, and she has been in the truth since she was 18. she is very old now.
Without being able to preach she was very sad.
Now she answser questions on every web site you can think of. I was amazed at her circle of friends.
She studies with my husband now by the computer and really lets him have it sometimes. She will say,"now how do you think is going to make you a better person"
He just laughs, they have gotten to be real good friends.
This is reaching in to every corner of the globe to help in the largest preaching work the world has ever known.
Why would it be wrong? doesn't the society have a web site?
But the potential for abuse is so great, I would be hesitant to let my children on here.

You know... I had the same question... and I think that if we have to ask there must be something shady about making time online. Just this weekend I was @ the assembly and they were talking about the dangers of the internet... I don't know what to tell you or myself.

Is there anyway to post more than one answer on this site... I am a newbie.

BTW Betty Boop, On the whole Jesus "dieing on a cross"... If we have come to the conclusion that Jesus did in fact die on a stake it's because we took time to research... I suggest you do the same.

Seeing evidence of my brothers and sisters everywhere makes me smile. each and every so often i'm going to come domicile from artwork and detect a tract on my door (I stay out of the terrritory of the congregation I attend and not all of us in the different congregation knows of my kin being witnesses). it somewhat is alway "OH seem who grew to become into right here!" when I see it. or maybe we would be working in provider and notice brothers or sisters from the Spanish congregation working the same streets that we are (we've finished neighborhoods that are as a rule Spanish conversing so as that they artwork door to door interior the same areas we do).. it somewhat is like Oh seem! and each so often it somewhat is "properly possibly we greater valuable artwork someplace else right this moment." each and every so often i'm going to be doing some thing elementary and that i will confirm human beings strolling down the line all dressed up. this would not continuously advise they are Witnesses, yet I do take an prolonged greater solid seem at them to confirm. in the event that they don't seem to be Witnesses and if there are women between them, the girls in many instances have dressy pants on and that tells me the team isn't Witnesses. yet each and every so often i individually won't be able to tell when I see adult males wearing suits and no women with them i won't be able to tell in the event that they are brothers or company adult males. when you consider that in our section commonly company adult males do no longer even gown up I even tend to lean in direction of the thought they are brothers, yet each and every so often i won't be able to be certain.

I straightforwardly asked my PO if I could count the time on the net. He said count half of it because about half you are looking up scriptures and doing research.

Where I live I am housebound for most of the winter because of the weather. I am so thankful to be able to talk about Jehovah and Jesus and help some who don't hear the good news where they live.

Hey there ladybug...

I count maybe 1-2 hours a month... I considered it like letter writing... Though I am on here WAY more than that.. I don't feel comfortable counting more that that...... That is just me... Do what the Watchtower said this last week, listen to the voice within. :) Your conscience.

It's like letter writing or telephone witnessing. As long as you bring out scriptural points.
