Great abs are made in the kitchen not in the gym. the last place for fat to be released from is the bottom of the rectus abdominis (RA) and the lower back. the level of body fat is a direct result of the diet not of the amount of types of exercises that are utilized. in terms of fat loss exercise only expedites the process, the diet that you follow determines your body composition.

a diet high in protein, high fiber carbs, fruits in veggies will provide your body with the nutrients that it needs to function at optimum levels of effeciency. high intensity exercises such as heavy resistance training, sprinting, etc. cause the greatest increase in the resting metabolic rate where real fat loss occurs.

abdominal training has absolutely no effect on body fat and since you can't spot reduce fat they truly have no effect except for strengthening the underlying muscles of the mid-section.

I don't think that repetitive crunches do much to really develop ab muscles--strength, yeah, but defined muscles usually not. The best way, from what I have read about developing your abs is to work them with weight training/resistance. When you do weight training that targets the abs you only want to do that every other day, your muscles need that time off and that will also help them develop better. On your off days from weight training I would do the crunches. It sounds like you're healthy and definitely working hard at it, that six pack will come. Stay healthy and keep up the good work!!

It is not that simple as how can do more curl ups. Your friends may have a larger mass and are therefore doing more work for each curl. Basically, there are only two reasons I can think of that a person wouldn't be able to see their six pack: One, the muscles aren't large enough; Two, too much skin, fat, for them to show through. I'd just suggest continuing to work out since you said your stomach is flat already.

Lower abs are so hard to achieve ive been working out for 2 years and those still arent really defined, men have fat deposits that accumulate around the lower abdomen and lower back. Trust me its really hard. Keep working em and eat healthy.

You may be too young to develop that extra row at the bottom! My kid is very fit and only 9, he only has a 2 pack!
