I am a worship leader at our church, and this upcoming Sunday we are expecting an excellent turn out. I need some ideas or recommendations on songs to sing, and ways to let the worship flow so everybody can truly feel the anointing of Jesus Christ. I am fairly new to leading worship, and this is my first 'big' Sunday if you know what I mean. Please help me with any possible recommendations at all. It will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and God Bless!!!!

Since a lot of the folks who'll be attending are 'regulars' - it's best to use mainly songs that are more familiar - the "tried and trues." There's something about being able to add your voice to the "choir" that carries the meaning deeper than simply listening in a worship setting.
There's all kinds of great songs out there that really speak to the heart of the Believer. As a general rule, I try to include a mix of older hymns and newer songs/choruses and always keep in mind that one of the Hebrew words for "singing" also carries the meaning of "teaching." There something about the combination of words of truth and melody that carries it to a deeper place in our hearts and spirits than words alone. Choosing songs that speak deep truths always seems to "let the worship flow."
Some of our favorites - in no particular order:
"Sing With Me (How Great is Our God)"
"Be Thou My Vision"
"How Deep the Fathers Love For Us"
"In Christ Alone"
"Come Thou Fount"
"Great is Thy Faithfulness"
"Never Been Unloved"
"All in All"
The one we always end with (and I'll end my list with, since it could go on for a LONG time) is "Days of Elijah" - a wonderful reminder that these are the days He has given to us to touch the world for His glory.

Blessings on your first "big day" :-)

some of the less lively ones, which i believe allow the congregation to think about more what they are singing, are Oh to see the dawn, beneath the cross of jesus, jesus, your name... all by keith and kristyn getty!! Excellent songs!! All the best in your worship leading

Those 'Praise and Worship' songs--youth all know them--
"Here I Am To Worship"
"Here I am to worship,
Here I am to bow down,
Here I am to say that you're MY God,
You're altogether lovely,
Altogether worthy,
Altogether Wonderful to me,................"

And when you s ing it in a low tone (not loud)--it is very worshipful.
All the popular stores have those CDs, I believe.
