Illegal immigration?

Question

Can anyone show me to some credible sources that show that the majority of illegal immigrants:
hurt the economy?
get free healthcare?
are on welfare?
are committing crimes (other than immigrating)?
steal the jobs of Americans?

Please do not give me isolated examples. I want statistics, if at all possible.

Also, why does it bother people that many of them speak Spanish?

I haven't got a source from anyone yet.

Ida- no sources. Also I find it hard to believe that "9,000 Americans are killed by illegal aliens annually". The US murder / Nonnegligent homicide rate is about 16,000 a year.

Nate- You have the best answer so far, and I appreciate how you explain both sides. But I have to disagree with you that most of them are not paying taxes. Most that I know use SSNs, and the govt takes money from every paycheck, also Social Security that they will never see- also sales tax.

Did you mean that 29% of agricultural workers are illegal aliens?

ProUSA2- I am aware that some illegals get benefits. My question was about the statistics and prevalence of those benefits.
Also, I can read your comments just as well if you write them in lowercase. All caps makes me think you are screaming at the computer. I am not an unreasonable person, so if you can make your points without doing that, I would be a little bit more willing to hear what you have to say.

I'm to lazy to get you statistics, but I can tell you that illegal imigration hurts the economy. It's true that imigrants will do the jobs that Americans won't for less pay, but that doesn't mean they have to be illegal to do it. If they were all legal citizens they could still do the jobs for the same pay and pitch in to the country. it's just simple logic there, not to mention the millions spent on imigration and border controll every year.

It would be very tough for a non-citizen to receive govenrment benefits (welfare / healthcare) so I'll go ahead and guess that statistic is very low, most imigrants I've known are much harder and more honest workers than their American counterparts (me included, look what I'm doing now).

Obviously the more people the more demand for jobs, and when an imigrant will do the job for half the price, who do you think the employer is going to take? It's simple supply and demand, and realize that it takes the economy a very long time to react to a change in it's enviornment. Meaning, if 1,000 illegal imigrants were to move into my small town today it would be years before we had enough stores, gas stations, roadways and industry to support another 1,000 people and soon the Americans would be cycled out of the job marked because of competitive wages. The same principle applys when 1 imigrant (illegal or not) moves into even the largest city (although admittidly having a much smaller effect).

Imigration is what economists call a regresser, a negative stress on the economy pulling back on inflation and growth. Specifically the only way illegal imigration differs is when it uses the system (roads, schools, or any type of government program) because the only way they differ from us is by not paying taxes to support these things.

I couldn't tell you anything about their crime rates, but I would be interested to find out. I'm sure someone else has already published many links to a site with all this information and more, but that's all I can tell you.

Legal immigration is the method in which humans looking for to go into the US comply with immigration legislation and observe for visas, and many others. to go into the nation. Illegal immigration happens whilst humans sneak in like thieves within the night time, as in Chinese welded into the metal holds of box ships that run aground on Long Island and Mexicans sneaking around the southern border with out regard to the regulation. And well grief, birds don't immigrate, they migrate, that's visiting with the seasons. Mexicans might as a consequence be extra thoroughly known as unlawful migrants.

I have a feeling that you're not quite as ignorant as the average minuteman-thinking idiot... I have no answer for you, but a compliment for your actual/factual approach to things. Seriously, even if you were against 'illegal immigration' (which I cannot truly tell from the context of your question) I wouldn't mind... and I'm undocumented myself. Kudos to your critical thinking skills... and your willingness to dare to know!

P.S. if you want a discussion on the ethics and actual experience of 'illegal immigration' from a first source, I'm willing to start either a debate or discussion with you. Unfortunately I hold no statistics, but a lot of experience.

However, isn't it kinda obvious that it's extremely difficult to keep track of the consequences of 'illegal immigration' since people with no documents are difficult to trace. I mean, c'mon... they're not going to ask every undocumented person in the US to raise his/her hand! It's impossible to keep the statistics in a vacuum... that's why I lean more to the ethics side of things...

Fraud is, by its very nature, a very difficult crime to get hard numbers on.

Reading some of your responses, I am sure that you have no interest at all in proof, as plenty of it has been shown.

I could give you some of my personal history regarding this issue as well, but I don't think you would or could comprehend, so I won't.

I agree that employers should be taken to court more often by employees for the reasons you have stated. That proves this next point. Illegal aliens take jobs from the working poor in this country. Often they are high school drop-outs and do not know thier rights.

There isn't ONE job field that is filled 100% by illegal aliens. There isn't ONE job field that is even filled by more than 50% illegal aliens.
Therefore, it's a LIE that they are only doing work that Americans and legal immigrants won't do.

Construction, maids, janitors....NOPE....agriculture....NOPE. Name one....

you want a credible source? every american is a good enough source...why you ask? cause we pay our taxes and were are here the legal way! I have seen first hand illegal immigrants steal ppl identity and pass it off as there so get on welfare including healthcare. As for crimes i know that up where my bf (thats a cop) lives the crime rate went up just because of the illegal immigrants there...they been trying to get rid of them for so long. It was even on the world news few months back. Now about them speaking spanish...i dont care what they speak to each other, but if you live here learn english cause i would not expect myself to live in another country and not speak there language. They take alot of jobs for ppl...sure most the jobs they take alot of ppl might not be interested in just cause there more physically demanding but alot of ppl that are here paying there taxes need a job like that to put food on the table. If they want to better there life and come here..fine, but get citizenship!!

It doesn't bother people that they speak spanish. I am part of the first generation in my family that doesn't really speak spanish, I know a bit, but have to really think to remember certain words. Family has been here since Onate (conquistador) settled here, so not mexican before you think that. It bothers me that they don't speak english. I don't like the fact that when I go to Walmart or Lowe's, they don't speak english, they expect me to cater to them. My brother who speaks more fluently than I, hates dealing with them. My uncles didn't like my dad, he was anglo, but really hates mexicans, they want them outta here.

I have no hard stats, other than go walk into any welfare office, any housing authority office, you will see more of who?? Plus the fact that my mother was a victim of ID theft by, not an american. I do blame my mother as part of this problem now, as a kid after divorce, my mother did date illegal mexicans. they did try to mooch, they did have fake names and ss#'s, they did get paid under the table, they did receive all these benefits, they did receive income tax with their stolen/fake ids. Honestley, I know what most are here for. Some of the one's I've dealt with in life, have stated they do hate America.
