There's a difference between lust and desire. Lust is sinful first of all, but in general it will cause you to sin. Desire can be anything. Food, the Word, a car for work...as long as it isn't causing jealousy or adultery, desire can be a good thing. If you never desire anything, you won't want God. Just look at Psalms if you want an example of desire that's wholesome.
Psa 10:17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
Psa 38:9 Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.
Psa 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. .
Psa 145:19 He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.
These to name a few. There are good desires, but if they cause you to sin, they change to lust and iniquity or rebellion against God.

There is nothing emotional about this.

In fact it is a command in the Scriptures. We are supposed to desire the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

See 1 Corinthians 14:1

"Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy."

Lust is an ungodly sinful desire for something which isn't ours and it usually is for something sexual in nature.

We are supposed to desire good things and the Holy Spirit is one of those good things we are supposed to desire.

No, it is an emotional response. If you lusted or desired the truth, you would objectively evaluate the available information.

The TRUTH.... is there for All to Accept... BUT will be Rejected.... BY... MOST!

Did Jesus say..... MANY.... SOME.... or..... FEW....?

(Matthew 7:22-23) Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works?

The WORD TRANSLATED.... "LUST".... in the NT....1John 2:16.... In the Greek Language.... MEANS... Wrongful Sinful DESIRE! Evil Consupience!

Perhaps is YOU..... download your... FREE BIBLE SOFTWARE.... http://www.e-sword.net [ not my site ]... You may see what the Greek NT says?

Thanks for Asking ! RR

(Mat 7:23) And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness!
