I find it difficult to remember my dreams enough to write anything comprehensible in my dream journal if I don't wake up before my alarm goes off. That buzzing is like a tabla rasa for my mind. Anyone have any suggestions?

(Hey, you changed your name, honeybun--but its a good choice :-} )

I have heard some people recommend using an alarm clock for more effective dream recall. You often have to wake up out of a dream to remember it well. Ideally, the mind should lapse in and out of Non-REM and REM sleep, the former of which is a deeper form of sleep, and I believe I've read that REM (dreaming) sleep is more active during the early morning hours of sleep time. I wouldn't recommend wrecking your sleep pattern too much for the sake of recording dreams, though. It might wreck your waking-hours mood, mental focus, and health although the symptoms will probably be mild and subtle. Another way to remember dream (and also train in lucid dreaming)--but I suspect you know this already--is to set your mind on certain intentions about dreaming and waking before you fall (or as you are falling) asleep.

You sort of "tell yourself" to member the dream before you go to sleep. Include which senses you wish to remember. The more you pay attention to your dreams the more you'll remember them. The alarm clock does detract from that ability though.

Try eating a small piece of cheese just before you go to sleep, it should help you to remember your dreams when the alarm goes off. It's scientifically proven, so trust me.

Get more sleep and think about waking up before the clock goes off. And always write down stuff even if it's only bits and fragments.
