Learn to swim

There is swimming in basic and you will never pass it if you can not swim.

And yes the rope climb is true and is the last part of the course. and if you fail the course you do not graduate

to the person that said they almost joined. Thank you for not joining. The Corps does not need people like you.

In the army, they teach me to cross the water with my weapon and make a life vest out of my pants and jump from a clifff (diving board) with our weapon and for those who could not swim, they stayed in the shallow area and got "I can't swim training" with their LCE, and weapon, so I would ask a recruiter, I didn't get this training until I went active duty, so once again, ask a recruiter, because I think you get this training at the unit level and if you can;t swim, a marine would get the "I can't swim" training session, but what do I know I was in the ARMY.

Don't worry, they will teach you how to swim. All Marines have to go through drown proofing due to the old ways of storming ashore on landing craft or even pulling duty on board ships.

But not to worry, most Marines can walk on water anyways (as told to me by my drill instructor)!

They do have a program that will assist you in swimming. They will give you direction and technique and will teach you to do it when that part of the training comes around. As for the pullups, women do the "dead hang" for a minimum time.

You need to be able to swim to pass. The rope climb is still part of the course.

You can always go to the YMCA or YWCA a learn how to swim, at least at a basic level. It is a most worthwhile skill to have whether you are in the military or not. While you can learn in the service, it is much easier if you already know how.

You can probably pass CWS-4 that does require much skill
and climbing a rope is not a graduation requirement.

My father was in the Marines, but he cannot float. They told him to make sure the boat never sinks.
