I'm a reservist that drill in new york. I have ask same question to many people, they have different answers for me. I'm knid of confuse now. Some people say reservist are more likely or have same % of chance as active that will get deploy. Some said reservist will be hard to get deploy. ( all the people i have asked are the NCOs in Marine Corps).

And how long will be the deployment last for? Some Marine tell me will be about 7 months, but some said it will be 13 months for reservist. I'm very confuse now. Could any one help?

Look Marine if you didn't join to fight you should have joined the Air Farce.

Depends on what you do. It also depends (somewhat) on if your unit has been deployed already. Reservists are not hard to get to deploy- when they tell you to go, you go! Not like you can tell them no (well, you can, but I wouldn't suggest it!).

Length of deployment is variable. Right now many are around a year. They were 18 months, but most have dropped. I can't see them going much shorter than that just due the logistics and the mere cost of moving all that equipment that many more times.

Pretty high. They want 30,000 troops by the end of next year to deploy to Afghanistan and Marines fight first. My brother is a Marine, and his friend that graduated with him in August 2008 already knows that he will be deploying February 2010. My family and I are yet to know whether or not my brother will be deploying, but chances of deploying are always great for all branches of military, but greater for Marines and Soldiers.

First of all, Marines are "first to fight". Even if you weren't told by your recruiter about possibilities of deployment, I guarantee you DI's pounded it in your head. You will deploy the same amount of time as a regular active duty unit. The Marines treat all the units about the same as far as that goes.
In the same answer, you know that you stay until the mission is done or until another unit relieves you. Semper Fi!

Just read that the top brass is considering shorter deployments in Iraq. That may indicate replacements by some such as yourself.

Depends on what type of unit you are in.
