One tree each - it wouldn't take much time or cost much, but if everyone in the world did it, think of the difference it would make! I know it's not practical for everyone to do it, but if just a small portion of each country would plant one tree each, it would surely halp in the battle with climate change!
Would you do it? More to the point, will you do it?!

No... one tree obviously wouldn't make a difference, that's why if you read my question properly you will see what I made the point that if millions of people planted one tree... ta da! Millions more trees! Oh, and not throwing your rubbish on the ground doesn't make you a saint! I'm just trying to help our planet but obviously some people couldn't care less. Did you know polar bears will be extinct in 20 years if things carry on this way? Or that the highest point of the Maldives are only 2 metres about sea level? Sorry for caring!!

At least some people read the question and can see my point that no, 1 tree won't make a difference but millions of people planting 1 tree each would. *sigh* !

I agree if everyone planted one tree, and the bests one are those started by a greenhouse, so they have a good start at survival. The timber industry over here in the US and Canada already does that, but they can't do it alone. I watch what's going around near where my parents moved to when I was 13 years old and it makes me sad. When I was 13 I was able to walk a deer path through a wonderful oak forest, but that forest was cut down to make way for executive style homes. My parents still own an acre of land with a good amount of trees, but they have to cut some down each year do to different diseases or bugs that get into them, that kills them.

We also need to find a viable way to relocate people away from the rainforest's so they can rejuvenate themselves like they will do if left alone.

(Just watch how nature tries to take things back. That's why we have constant road repair.)

Edit: Claire don't feel sorry about caring and your idea does have merit. I am a AGW skeptic, but I still feel this idea is a good one, since the right type of tree does take in CO2. I did hear that it makes a difference on the type of tree it is. That's why I'm sad about the Oak forest behind my mom and dad's house being destroyed. Yes some of the trees are left, but not many, since they had to rip them down to put in the houses. You can tell that by looking at these peoples yards.

Yes, I agree. In the last 10 years, I have planted 30 Christmas trees, 20 flowering pear trees, 4 sugar maples, 2 crimson red maples, 1 copper beach, and various shrubs and flowers on my property. It's worth the expense, and I love the look of trees. Now every year, I plant at least two different trees.
This spring, I have planned to plant 2 pink dogwoods on the northeast side of my property. Yes, if everyone planted one tree, instead of cutting them down, it would make a huge difference.

I'll plant it if you dig the hole............

It would be nice if we all could do things to make the world a better place. Unfortunately, someone else would come along and see all the money to be gained by chopping down our trees............

I try to do my part by being energy conscious, etc. I don't throw trash on the ground because, even though I'm just one person doing it, I feel we've trashed this planet enough and I'm doing my best not to be guilty of that.......

Edit:

I read the question. I understand the concept.... I added a little more commentary in an attempt to illustrate that, while I haven't planted any trees lately, I'm still trying to do my part not to contribute to the decay of our planet and I get accused of thinking myself a saint!

It is I who apologize for caring!!!!!!!

Well, I get the idea. Everyone should do their part to keep things nice. Plant a tree, clean up a creek, manage wildlife responsibly...

I like the Boy Scout philosophy: Leave things in better shape than you found them.

Today I talked with a Timber dealer, who said they are in short supply of wood, because too much consumption for building construction is going on. One tree takes many days to grow and But man takes only few hours to cut it down, so I appreciate your
notion and agree with you, and tell other people to grow more trees but cut less.

I make it a policy to plant several trees every year and I usually go for fruit trees although also plant lots of willows near where I live as its quite wet. I live next to an airport and don't understand why they don't plant lots of trees to make up for their carbon output.

Yes, that's why I only buy Christmas trees in pots that I can plant later.

I once calculated that the average American would need to plant 3 200 trees in his life to make him carbon neutral !!!!!!!!!

This being said, I do not think it is necessarily the right measure to start with.

Good luck

If the international as an entire could replace for the extra helpful then definite. yet "the oracle" is a appropriate occasion for individuals who do no longer see any desire for progression. people are self based with the help of nature. we can continually desire and the excellent undertaking we can do is to extra helpful ourselves. we can't stop doing that. i admire the sermon on the mount. in case you seem at v.3 of Mt.5 Jesus says, "Blessed are the unfavorable in spirit, For theirs is he kingdom of heaven." He became conversing approximately people who knew they have been unfavorable in spirit for this reason they knew that they mandatory Him.
