I like to donate when I can. I am currently based in the UK. Is it best to give to DEC, International Red Cross, Medicin Sans Frontieres or International Rescue Committee, or donate to other individual charities? Sometimes they all seem to be appealling for the same assistance in the same areas ?
I guess donating to any of them is good, but if anyone can offer any advice, t'would be much appreciated, thanks

Thank you for donating to Red Cross, I have been a volunteer with them for 15+ years. They are a wonderful organization and have received Top awards for their accountability. Red Cross partners with many other charities to be sure that all the client needs are met, so that their should be no duplication of providing the same type of service..

With any charitable giving, find out first what the ratio is for the percent of the income that is spent directly on administrative costs. At least 85% of the income should not be on administration.

Why not donate to something local? There must be some charitable foundations that help in the UK.

Anything you feel is right. For me I will never again give to United Way. They are so money hungry. And they spend tons on posters, and balloons, and lunches to get company's to give to them. Now I really like giving to the Red Cross, with blood donations several times a year. Just go and look for one that you believe in and trust.

Your a good person, Have a merry Christmas!

Before you donate to anyone take a look at the costs and administration that some of these charities incurr then give to the one that takes the least from the pot. You will be surprised how much of the monies goes on administration.

I read somewhere that the Christian Organisations ensure that a bigger proportion get to those in need. There are man from Tear Fund CAFOD and so on. I can assure you that Bibles only come after the rescue work is done and in some countries they are forbidden to evangelise .

i would say the International Red Cross.. It's a familiar name all around the world, and with them, you know where your donation is going. =)
Bless you for being such a great person! =)
