With as much work (and money) has gone into your engine, it would make sense to me to put in at least a fresh C6. A reputable transmission shop can build you a bullet proof C6 that you won't have to worry about when you mash the go-pedal.

Depending on how much money you want to spend, an overdrive transmission (i.e., AOD, AODE, and 4R70W) could be installed. However, there would be electronics to deal with, drive shaft to alter and the shifter may have to be modified, some may require adapters and most importantly the PRNDL wouldn't be correct...

The C6 may be your only realistic option. An AOD would not last long behind a 460 unless it was built up considerably. The E4OD is basically a C6 with overdrive, but it's electronically controled, so it won't easily work either. The C4 is not stout enough for a big block. You might be get an adapter and use a GM TH-350 or a Powerglide. I think rebuilding the C6 is your best option though.

Stick with the C-6 they are great stock but with a shift kit and bigger bands they are bullet proof,I run a 478cid BBF in a 76 f-150 on an 1/8 mile drag strip it has pulled 540 hp on pro speeds dyno, and turns 4.56 rear gears I have had this transmission for three years and have never had a single problem with it.
