Professional tattoo MACHINES are only sold to professionals - sorry, I hate to keep playin' the same song but there is no such thing as getting in a lot of practice when someone doesn't know what they are doing.

When it comes to tattooing, only safe, perfect practice (learned) is the only way to go, otherwise they are just reinforcing bad and dangerous habits.

Edit notes - formula, you are correct, there is no incidence of HIV reported through tattooing, it is a very weak virus. On the other hand, HBV and HCV have been linked to tattooing - there have been HUGE payoffs on lawsuits - you can harbor these viruses even on a counter top for a week.

I stand by what I wrote as always, especially when it comes to MACHINE safety.

timothy, grow up.

to the other people who answered this question: HIV and Hepatitis C have NEVER been spread by tattoos. That's just a huge myth that's been told for ever. Don't believe me? Check out the CDCs website. The potential is there, but it's not likely to happen. No one in the history of mankind has ever contracted those diseases from a tattoo.

Now, on to your question, I'd check ebay, or sometimes tattoo studios will sell old equipment. Just remember to practice safe tattooing procedures. Change the needles and clean the ink tube. Get a pressure cooker or something. Make sure everything stays sterile.

Good luck!

You can buy a tattoo gun. Your artist will have to buy a cleaning machine to clean the claves and needles to keep from spreading disease.. I have found them on eBay. Keep a look out for tattoo conventions, you can buy them there. My best advice, if you choose that route to buy one - educate yourself so you don't get ripped off.. A good professional gun will cost you a pretty penny.
Good Luck
