If you drink anything with caffeine in it, stop!
Soda, coffee, tea, hot chocolate.
If you need something hot to drink, try squeezing 1/2 and orange into a cup and add hot water, then some honey, if you need to sweeten it up. I like it without sugar.
I drink soy milk. One night I warmed it up and drank it...put me right to sleep. I don't know if that's what is was, but heck.....whatever works!!

I co-sleep with my 3 1/2 month old son and have since he was born and he sleeps through the night most of the time (like last night he slept from 9:30 until 6:00amam than fell right back asleep after he breastfed until 9:00am!) He's been sleeping almost through the night (with a few wakes up until he was about 1 1/2 months) since he was born! I've never had what mothers would call a "sleepless night" and in fact some people couldn't believe I had just had a baby cause I barely ever looked tired. I attribute this to co-sleeping with him since day 1. He's safe with mommy, he knows I'm right there and he knows all he has to do in the middle of the night is kick a little and the booby is right there!

When I can't sleep I use "Melatonin". It is in the vitamin aisle at your grocery store or pharmacy. It is not an over the counter chemical pill. It is a natural substance that your brain produces to help you sleep. It works. Take it 1/2 hour before bedtime and I promise that you will fall asleep. It works by using your bodies own sleep chemical. It is not a drug. It is harmless and will not have any side effects.
I hope you will get some good rest.

melatonin. It is a natural hormone our body produces that you can find at a pharmacy in the vitamin section or at a health food store. Its natural, non-addictive and cheap. This worked wonders for my husband and he was a chronic Tylenol PM user. Now he uses the melatonin. make sure you take it about an hour before you want to go to bed, and when you are at home. It kicks in quickly so the last thing you want is to be at school, work, or especially behind the wheel of a car. Also, make sure you have at least 8 hours to sleep. works great!!!

if you can't sleep, try to avoid alcohol, caffeinated products before bed time and do some lifestyle improvement or establish a set of habits and follow them consistently to establish a healthy sleep cycle. But if your insomnia is getting stubborn then you can used a sleep aids that contain melatonin substance for surely it will help you get sleep pattern back to normal.

A serious factor for not sleeping is the fear that you won't sleep. How do we fight fears? By doing what we fear. If we fear pubic speeches to fight this, we give public speeches!
As a result, to fight insomnia try NOT to sleep!
When I feel tensed and not able to sleep at night I read books about something very interesting, that it worth to stay awake. Or books about ghosts, alien abductions, possesed people etc. I try to stay awake until I surrender...this has proved VERY effective for me.

Check this out:

No drugs... natural or pharmaceutical. An automatic response of your brain to sound pulses (at the same rate as calm, sleepy brain waves) brings you relaxation & sleep. It gets awesome reviews.
