I just can't sleep at night wondering which ideology will have the biggest influence on them.
Most parents I know use Christianity to shape their children's minds, but how can I be sure this is right when there are so many other alternatives
Islam or Hinduism, Judaism or Scientology??
The list is endless
Which is the real god? Which religion is correct?
How can I be sure that I am not preaching my children lies?

Please help, I am very confused.

Teach your children to seek reality. Reality is everything. Mythology is nothing.
Science is the constant, never-ending search for the reality of the universe.
Don't try to teach them to believe...teach them to think.

Hinduism has many gods, scientology is more of a cult and Islam, although supposedly a peaceful religion, has basis for murder ie fatwa, gihad.
This is a very biased opinion but I'd choose Christianity for them. There is a reason why most parents you know use this. It's based on peace, love, justice etc and generally, if you follow the beliefs, it will help you to become a better person regardless if you believe there is a "real god". Churches have good support groups, lots of activities and play a very active role in helping the community at home and overseas. that alone should be reason enough.

The Truth Will Set You Free"

"You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." So declared Jesus as he was teaching the multitudes in the temple in Jerusalem. (John 8:32) Jesus' apostles could readily identify Jesus' teachings as the truth. They had seen abundant evidence of their teacher's divine origin.

TODAY, however, some may find it difficult to identify the truth Jesus spoke about. As in the days of the prophet Isaiah, today there are "those who are saying that good is bad and bad is good, those who are putting darkness for light and light for darkness, those who are putting bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter." (Isaiah 5:20) With numerous opinions, philosophies, and life-styles being promoted nowadays, many people feel that everything is relative and that there is no such thing as truth.

When Jesus said to his audience that the truth would set them free, they responded by saying: "We are Abraham's offspring and never have we been slaves to anybody. How is it you say, 'You will become free'?" (John 8:33) They did not feel a need for anyone or anything to set them free. But then Jesus explained: "Most truly I say to you, Every doer of sin is a slave of sin." (John 8:34) The truth that Jesus was talking about can open the way to freedom from sin. Jesus said: "If the Son sets you free, you will be actually free." (John 8:36) So the truth that frees people is truth about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is only by faith in the sacrifice of Jesus' perfect human life that anyone can be freed from sin and death.

Jodie Foster - the Academy Award winning actress and atheist - is raising her children in all faiths, then allowing them to make up their own minds about religion when they come of age.

Very sensible to me.

teach your children as much as possible about the world
about different beliefs and cultures
instill in them some good morals ... you say you worry about them , I would imagine you are a kind caring parent anyway
so they will learn from you

and if you give them good information and let them be open minded ....
they can choose for them self when older , if they wish to

There is no real God. There is no correct religion. Personally, I like Buddhism. It is not a religion, it is a philosophy in my view. You don't have to believe in everything it says (for example, reincarnation). It teaches you how to be tolerant of other beliefs.

Please check out the link on BeliefNet.com.
They are a neutral site talking about all religions and they have a gret quiz called the Belief-o-Matic which will ask you about your beliefs then rate your responses against many religions (including all of the ones you named)

If you want to teach them something that is true, honest, and fair, skip the crap, and teach them to use a phone book and balance a checkbook.
