If they never consulted you (whether it be your mother, mil, sister or whoever) and just gave your child their first haircut, then you found out afterward.

YES!!!! it happend to my first son.
i never cut his hair. he was 2 1/2 and i went for a trip i was gone 1 week. his god mother was watching him. all his hair was long blond and beautiful i kept it pulled back in a pony and he always wore boy clothes.
when i came home my boy had a mullet hair cut. of all the things a MULLETT!!!!!!
i was ferious. sad. life changed in an instant.
i think the first hair cut should only be done by the parents at their choice. or when the child is old enough to want one.
it is a very big thing like the first word or the first tooth or something like that.
I was very upset.

My mother in law did this to our oldest son, and then to my daughter. I was ticked to say the least. Especially with my daughter because her hair took so long to come in. I don't get along all that well with my MIL so I just told her off, but that probably is not the best way to handle it.
She thought she was doing me a favor, or so she said. It was when he was ten months old, and I had wanted to wait until he was a year old. Good luck.

Of course I would be upset. The first haircut is a milestone and the parents should be there with camera, tissues, and etc.

I even got upset when my daughter gave HERSELF her first haircut when she was 3yr old. Actually she did a pretty good job but it scared me to death that she had used scissors.

I would be furious. My son has hispanic heritage and part of that heritage is to grow a pony tail. I had a cousin who's son was part Native American and it was also part of his heritage. One day while at a family get together, one of my aunts cut his pony tail off. It started a family feud because some family thought it was funny and others said she had no right to do it. I made it known on that day that none of them better ever think about doing it to my son.

I would be severely pissed beyond words. The first haircut is a special occassion that mom and dad should take part in.

Absolutely I would. I think it is very cheeky and something I would never dream of doing to someone else's child. In fact I would never cut any child's hair except my own at any time in their life without permission.

I would be really upset. With my religion we don't believe in cutting the females hair, but I would want to be there for my sons first haircut. That is something for the PARENTS not the grandparents or anyone else.So yeah I would be mad & they would get told off.

Yes, I would be very upset. It is not any one elses choice on this matter. Even if the dad had done it without my knowledge, I would have be upset.
