She is probably my best female friend. She recently started dating a guy who told her right up front he has herpes. She said he told her that she can't get them because he's never given them to anyone. But she's been telling me that she hopes she gets herpes, because if she does that is her sign that he and she are meant to be together forever. Is this stupid of her?

Oh trust me I think she's crazy. But she says it'll be a gift from God to show her they are meant to be together. Their "special bond". Plus she's like "it's not that big a deal, it goes away if you take some pills" By the way, she's 27.

Also, she said that he said he didn't get herpes from sex. His roommate caught it one summer and he got it from living in the same house and using the same toilet.

well lets see. there is alot of people who make mistakes and were foolish when younger, and end up with a std they have to carry with them the rest of there life. your friend thinking if she gets it from him means there meant to be together cause he tells her he has never give it to anyone else is a little crazy. but women like to feel special. if i was you i would talk to my friend and tell her if she loves this person use protection along with his medication she most likely will not get it. if using protection. a person with a std deserves a life to and not be set aside from the rest of the world. she is just being silly and most likely her saying she dont care if she gets it is her way of showing him and everyone just how strong her love is for him. and that if she contracts its ok in her mind cause she has that much love therefore to her it probably dont matter, and its her choice we all have one. and if that is her choice then support for her is the best thing and encouragment to make her understand she dont have to contract the std from him to prove how strong her love is. as far as finding better friends and not so crazy friends. she is not crazy she is expressing her feelings for him by saying those things that sound crazy to the rest of us. just be there for her. she is a grown woman with her own mind im sure she will make the right choice and be carefull. and that std is often not transmitted unless there is a break out very rarley and the medication does prevent the spread of it cause it controls the breakouts. dont turn your back on her cause she talking crazy or down her. just discuss it with her and make sure to tell her if she wants a family with this guy to at least protect herself for the sake of future children it can be passed to a unborn child that will make her think more about using protection. tell her she has a choice but if she becomes pregnant the baby dont get to choose.

Very, i dont think she knows the effect, tell her to look up the effects of herpes, tell her its a disease, not a bond, its very stupid, it will definatly ruin her life for her, do your best to tell her no, and he is lying anyways, he is not a good guy i can tell you already, one hes had sex, two he lied to her, and would give her the disease if he had the chance, which is one of the worst things you can wish for a person, to be diseased, ya know?

Very, unfortunatly there is little you can do without damaging your friendship. That i can't help you with, as when i tried, it destroyed mine.
There are two kinda of love:
- True love, you can take into account everything.
- Obsession, you only want one thing, reguardless of the cost.

Tell her that if she gets it, it will reduce the number of men that will want to date her should this guy ever split!!!
Of course, as spacey as she sounds, she may not be able to comprehend the ramifications of the situation.

Um ... no offense to you, but you need to find friends who aren't so crazy. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my LIFE.

I think she's lost in love right now and unable to understand the circumstances. but you cant do much about it, let her realize it for herself.
