You may not have dry skin, you could have a condition call seborrheic dermatitis. Try a little hydrocortisone cream and see if that helps with the flakiness. If it does, you may want to go to a physician and get a prescription. Mine gave me ketoconazol and Elidel. You don't want to use the cortisone cream on your face for an extended period of time because it will age your skin.
I thought I had dry skin too and the more I'd moisturize the worse it got. The condition is similar to dandruff, except it's on your face, especially around the nose, mouth, & behind the ears. When I started using the script the doctor gave me twice a day, the condition cleared up & now I just use the cream when I get a flare up. There's no cure you just have to manage it. Good luck. 2D

Hi there i can say you are not alone in this problem my face goes exactly the same at this time of year. I find that if i use a face scrub ( like St Ives Apricot Scrub) 3/4 times a week and moisturise every morning and night it is a big must to combat the problem. I have found over the years that Sudocrem works really well to get on top of the problem as it is antiseptic and is used on a number of skin complaints not just babies bums !!!! Now i am on top of it i just use my normal moisturiser (Avon Retroactive +) To stop your make up looking flaky and not very nice i would suggest you moisturise as soon as you have washed get yourself sorted or have a cuppa then put your moisturiser on again just before you put your make up on this should give you a smoother healther looking finish. I hope this has helped you Take Care & Merry Christmas

if your dry skin is just in a small area, try putting a small amount of Blistex 'Relief Cream' on the area. (you can buy this from boots, it comes in a little tube)
I know this is usually used for dry/cracked lips, but it really helps to soften the dry skin. You can then try exfoliating (try St Ives apricot exfoliating cream, or even just a wet face-cloth if your skin is particularly sensitive). Because the Blistex cream will have softened the dry skin, it will be easier to remove. Apply more after you have exfoliated to keep the area soft.
I sometimes mix a small amount with my foundation to put on dry areas (not the whole face!) and this stops the make-up looking awful on the dry/flaky skin.
good luck!

What do you feed him? 99% of pet foods you can buy at a grocery store, your vet's office, and Wal-Mart, have a lot of corn, soy, and wheat in them, which many dogs have bad skin reactions to. This is also true for at least 70% of the foods at pet supplies stores. Some dogs aren't affected at all by these ingredients, and some just have a mild case of dry skin and itching, but some dogs have their skin dried out and irritated to such an extent that they will constantly itch and lick themselves. I think his food could definitely be the culprit, but I'd need to know what you've tried feeding her to be sure, and to advise you on which foods will get rid of her problem.

I have some natural suggestions for you to try!
After you wash your face apply a layer of pure honey and leave it on as a mask for about 30 minutes, then wash off with warm water. It really does do wonders for the skin - makes it very smooth and decreases the size of pores.
Exfoliating is also important to rejuvenate the skin. Mix some extra virgin olive oil, brown sugar, and honey together and scrub on your face (and body too if you like!). Rinse off with warm water. It really makes your skin soft and glowing! Follow with moisturizer.
Extra virgin olive oil really is miracle stuff though - great for loads of beauty treatments, pretty inexpensive and all natural!!
You sound like you need a good moisturizer as well though. Oil of Olay products are very good - I use a day moisturizer and a night moisturizer, which is a bit richer, every day. It's important to moisturize your skin at night because that is when it is repairing itself.
L'oreal Nutrilift body moisturizer is lovely for all over too!
Remember to drink loads of water too, for hydration from the inside!!
Good luck x

all natural moisturizer is good for the skin since it has natural ingredients which made it free from harmful ingredients and it is proven to be oil free. to keep the skin from getting dry, be sure to keep the skin hydrated by drinking a lot of fluids. eat fresh fruits and vegetables and keep the skin from dehydrating skin contributors such as alcohol, smoking and tobacco. try stress reduction techniques by relaxation or yoga, it can help make the skin look younger.
the best skin care for dry skin are just simple ways that you do not need to buy an expensive skin care product. skin care can start from within you. you can start by quitting smoking and excessive alcohol drinking for this can make the skin dry. also keep skin hydrated by drinking fluids and eating fresh fruits and vegetables. exercise can keep the skin firm and healthy. avoid exposing yourself from the harmful rays of the sun. have an all natural skin care moisturizer. for more tips about getting rid of dry skin visit http://www.skinsosilky.com

Oily cream from Boots is a good moisturiser for very dry skin but probably best used as a night cream as it's very heavy. Have you spoken to your GP, because this sounds like eczema. Perhaps your GP could perscribe you Protopic cream. It is as effective as a steroid cream but doesn't damage the skin.
Do you use soap to wash. That can be very hard on sensitive skin. Use a non soap product like Elave. Also, have you changed your shampoo/conditioner/make-up etc recently, or have your regular products changed their formula. Have you changed washing powder? Very often a new product is to blame for sudden skin irritation.
Good luck

Try Nievea Soft. It comes in small tubes or large round pot, you can get in any supermarket and the best thing is that its cheap and you can use for face and body.
It really softens the dry top layer of your skin and really nourishes.(I find some moisturisers don't penetrate enough and just sit on top off the skin) It's very rich so I wouldn't recommend for people with oily skin.
I found that after I applied it, my foundation went on more smoothly.

This is very common in the winter. Vasiline intensive care for dry skin is what i use and its ok. Something that causes it is being in the cold then comming in to warmth. Try not to have your bath/shower too hot and make sure your room temp isnt too hot. Also dont apply too much make up.. it will just go all patchy. And befor goin bed splash you face with cold water. xx
