God is a Trinity. The Bible teaches not only that there is one God, but also that there are three persons in the Godhead, - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is a mystery to the human mind, but although it cannot be understood, it can be believed because God's Word says it is so. The word "trinity" is not found in the Bible, but the truth is found in the following passages: (1) Baptism of Jesus, Matthew 3:16-17. The great commission, Matthew 28:19. (3)The benediction of II Corinthians 13:14. The Father is called God in Romans 1:7. The Son is called God in Hebrews 1:8. The Holy Spirit is called God in Acts 5:3-4.

The trinity as a general religious doctrine has been around for thousands of years. The Christian congregation did not hold to this at first, but believed that God and Jesus were separate individuals and that the holy ghost or spirit was God's power or active force. The doctrine seeped slowly into the congregation after two or three centuries. God and Jesus were considered to be the same, but Holy spirit was still not considered to be a person. Eventually, all three were considered to be three persons in one.
It's a confusing doctrine, and takes much explanation, but even so, many are not satisfied with it. Here is a site where you can find less confusing information on God, Jesus and the holy spirit. Just type trinity into the searh window.

According to Muslim doctrine there is only God/Allah and God has no partner, no equal nor is anything similar to him.
As for Christianity the trinity wasn't "official" doctrine until 325 AD. This was due to the fact that the roman empire forced this upon the Christan's and they were powerless to resist.
Athanasius who is seen as the father of the creed taught it but had doubts in his mind. He said, "There are not three gods there is one."
The Romans took from paganism and "Christianised" it and called it Christianity. Sunday is the day of the sun and Sunday is the of worship according to the Christans right?
Look up Mithras or mithra or Baal the sun deity, who was worshipped because he was the son of the sun. He was born on 25th of December as was Mithra.

Still the same one God and as before the Holy Trinity. God is as always He never changes. God the Father, God the the Son and the Holy Ghost, don't let anybody confuse you. until today, still One God manifested in 3 divine persons. The Bible says that God is the same yesterday, tomorrow and forever for centuries and no end, Amen.

Well the hree men I admire the most,
the father, son and holy ghost,
they took the last train for the coast
the day the music died.
Maybe two of them preferred the sea air and stayed on.

Roman Catholics are still big on the Trinity. That hasn't changed. What also has not changed is that they still can't explain it other than to say it's a "mystery." Apparently there are some Protestant denominations that also buy into this invention. It's also a "holy mystery" to them. It's just too shake-your-head-and-smirk weird. But that's organized religion for you.
Edit: Read Wally's explanation. Or non-explanation, because he says what I already said: Believers can't explain it because it's a "mystery." Too weird.

The trinity is the Babylonish ideas of men. There is only one true God and his Only-beggotten son is our Lord Jesus Christ who has been granted authority by his father and the Holy spirit is the active force that God uses to accomplish his will on earth-also a strengthening aid to his followers.

It is a process of evolution, possibly, evolution of thoughts, theories and religious tenets! At every stage of evolution, in every 'age', all humans are, without exception, highly evolved 'minds' in human form, expressing, conforming, agreeing, disagreeing (some times violently! -- but, highly evolved, still!), building up cases for and against, leaving behind trails and some new trends in thoughts and religions and therefore evolving cultures! Difficult to pinpoint the times when new points in understanding or transitions, get established, in this labyrinth of evolutions!
