One of the things I've never quite understood. You're supposedly covered in completely different skin every few months, aren't you? So why does a scar on the skin still stick around?

Scars that remain after some time are from injuries that are more than skin deep. If it is a superficial cut, it will heal nicely, leaving no scar, as the skin will shed off the scar. However, some cuts or wounds go deeper than the dermis or epidermis, and extend deeper, into the tissue of the body. These are the scars that don't go away.

It depends on the depth of the scar tissue. Superficial scars can fade in time, but deeper scars may need a resurfacing procedure. And some scars that go deeper than the skin and are bound to the subcutanous layer would need to be treated with subcision and fillers.

Normal skin shedding is only on the surface of your skin where as a scar goes much deeper into the layers of your skin. I suppose its a wee bit like when you fill a hole in your wall the repair will always be there no matter how many times you redecorate.

Scar will always be a scar unless you do plastic surgery for that. The only thing you can do is to lighten them up instead of turning to black bec I know some turns black.. Find a good exfoliator that will help you lighten them up. It takes time though.

scar tissue does not function, including exfoliate, like normal tissue..

I guess the cells have been destroyed, it is effectively dead so no way to regenerate.
