Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances and one of the hardest to kick. Addiction depends on each person. A physical addiction will take some time. This is when your body actually needs the substance and without it with drawls begin. A mental or emotional addiction is when a person associates the substance with a desired outcome or with a pleasurable feeling and starts to want this more and more. Unfortunately cigarettes have both. Don't even start. Look at how many people try to quit smoking each year and fail.

Addiction can take on three forms: Social dependency, psychological dependency and physical dependency. Social addiction cannot really be measured and psychological dependency is very variable, but the physical dependency might only take a week with nicotine.
Interestingly, the physical dependency is the easiest to fight as, like all stimulant drugs, nicotine only stays in the body for a very short time (minutes). Fighting the habit of knowing that you like a cigarette with your coffee, after a meal, first thing in the morning, etc is the hardest part of giving up smokes. Nicotine replacement like patches mearly mast the psychological withdrawal by satisfying the physical.
Anyway, to actually answer your question: it depends on who you are.

Well of course cigarettes are no where near as addictive as other drugs. However I would be careful after even just one in any case. Once you have it in your system whether you like it or not your body will start craving it. If you've already had one, and you know you want another, but don't want to get addicted...well just stay away my friend. But from what I know depending on what kind of person you are (build, strength of mind/will etc), I'm pretty sure within 2/3 you will be thoroughly addicted by that point...so yeh i recommend to just stay away all together...
