I think you can lose weight at any age. People use age as an excuse.

I exercise Daily. I lift weights, ride bike, and run. I'm 50 and my doctor says my metabolism is the same as if I was in my 30s. Your metabolism does not have to slow down in your 40s and 50s if you keep up the activity.

If you had seen this years edition of The Biggest Loser, you would have seen that a 67 year old contestant lost 31 pounds in one week. One of the finalists has lost 130 pounds in
3 1/2 months and I believe he is in his forties.
Yes, metabolisms do slow down, but a lot of that is due to a lack of activity. Many people as they age don't do as much as they did when they were younger.

That is the way it is said to be. You are young and fit to find a mate and reproduce and then when those years are (officially) over, your body starts to hear towards old age.
I think recently the thinking has come round more to 30 being the first signal of change where you have to work harder to loose weight/ maintain fitness.
I have certainly noticed that myself.
It's so unfair! You don't realise what you have got when you are young- you take it for granted!
Like Oscar Wilde said:' Youth is wasted on the Young'
Too true.

Big time. Metabolism rate cut in half in 40's and 50's. Step up that cardiovascular exercise.

YES,,, it is sooooooo much easier to loose weight when your younger!!!! When I was younger I could loose 5 pounds in a week if I really watched what I ate,,, NOW all I have to do is smell food and put on 5 pounds!! SO if your young and a bit over weight DO something about it now and get it under control before its too late>>> why would we remove this question???

i've got been in my 20s, 30s, 40's and now i'm in my 50's (which isn't!! previous) and that i'm pleased with the place i'm now. It basically isn't many greater years until i'm in my 60's and that i'm effective i'm going to take that for the duration of my stride besides.

Its only harder because people exercise less and eat more as they age. Because they dont workout, they lose muscle mass, which in turn slows the metabolism alittle. But you can lose weight, you just have to work harder.
