I can point you to a list of professionals. They charge $40 an hour, with a 15-hour minimum. They would need a little more data than your name. Let me know.

Here are the first 20 of 160 people in the USA in 1880 named Hendel. One might be your great great grandfather. I copied them off to show you there were lots of Hendels back then. I used the "Exact Spelling" option, but I'd bet $100 that many of your ancestors got recorded as "Handal", "Handle" or "Handel" at least once in their lives.

It is from

Following standard/ basic research process will identify exactly who your ancestors were, AND where they originated. Normally, you won't find records of living persons online.. which is safer for you, and for others. You need to get those records either directly from family members, or order the documents, if you are authorized by law to have them.
The most important thing to remember (in my opinion) is that you need to look for PERSONS, not surnames. Once you get back past living family, the historical sources open up.

Hendel
German and Dutch: variant of Handel.
Jewish (Ashkenazic): variant of Handler.
Jewish (Ashkenazic): from the female personal name Hendl, a pet form of Hanna.
Hope this helps.
