what is a bodywave?

iv been thinkin bout a perm but i have short layers i want it more wavy than "permy" what do you think would be best?

A bodywave is less curl than a perm, more wave. But whether it will work really depends on your hair. Talk to your stylist. They'll know better which would look good in your hair.
