Christians tend to preach in Church that if you don't love Jesus you're going to hell.

If you, murder, rape, and steal, but you repent and love jesus, you're going to heaven.

So if a Jewish or Muslim guy gives to the poor on a regular basis and has never broken any of the 10 commandments in his life, he's going to hell anyways?

From my experience the teachings in the Church are turning Christian children into biggots. Weather or not these are the beliefs of Christian adults, they are infact the beliefs of Christian children.

I was really praying that people would start telling me I'm wrong....

Anyways, if god doesn't really care weather or not you're an all around good person and ONLY cares that you believe love him and accept him as your personal savior wouldn't that be an extremely selfish god?

Personally if god disregaurds the fact that someone is an extremely good person and sends them to hell, and then sends a rapist to heaven beceause he offered a little apology that's not a god I would want anything to do with.

Shouldn't this god be a little less self centered? The description of god I'm getting on here makes him out to be a very selfish and unfair individual.

I agree... I've read the parts of the bible that talk about salvation, and I've never seen anything referring to the "Get Out of Hell Free Card" that many Christians seem to believe they have. You're not just supposed to believe in Jesus, you're supposed to act like Jesus as well.

This is such an oversimplification that it has no resemblance to truth. The Bible doesn't teach that you can just love Jesus and then commit any atrocity you feel like. If you are committing atrocities, you don't accept Jesus. It's that simple.

I don't know who you are associating with, but please know that in this country, it's too easy to call yourself a Christian for social reasons. But the Bible tells us that we will know them by their fruits. If they don't produce love, joy, peace, longsuffering, and other such qualities, they're not really Christians.

It isn't true that a person has never broken any of the ten commandments, no matter how hard he tried not to. That's why the Jews have Yom Kippur, when they ask God for forgiveness for having not kept the law perfectly. I'm not familiar with any possible Muslim method of repenting; there may not be one. But given how cruel the religion is in some respects, I wouldn't bet on it being a vehicle for earning favor with God. Muslims give to the poor because they are afraid not to. I see too many atrocities to believe they never broke the ten commandments. In fact, the way they treat women is evidence enough.

If you know some church that is teaching that, run away screaming. That's not real Christianity. We are saved by faith alone, but faith without works is dead. If people aren't living a Christian life, they're not saved.

Please know that charitable efforts are overwhelmingly run by Christians.

You reflect the common perception of Christ, which is flawed terribly.

The ten commandments are irrelevant in Christianity.

A Christian is one who has God's Spirit. This Spirit is a Spirit of love; not hate.

Those who have the H.S. not only love Jesus, they love their fellow man. As such, they do not go about murdering, raping, stealing, as you imply.

Regarding those who are "Jewish" or "Muslim" your comment shows that you do not know the Scriptures:

John 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Regarding your last paragraph, you only contribute to that bigotry through your own ignorance.

you know, in all the sermons i have heard, all the sunday school classes i have attended, all the vacation bible school classes i have taught, over the past 4 decades, i have YET to hear "if you don't love Jesus you're going to hell' OR "if you murder, rape, and steal, but you repent and love Jesus, you're going to heaven"...sounds, much like this much-touted fantasy of a 'get out of hell free' card, like a caricature from 'popular entertainment'...of course, i have yet to see a fictional portrayal of a church service on tv or in a movie that bears any semblance to reality.
now, as to the question of WHO goes to heaven, WHO goes to hell, i believe that is a matter between an individual and their Creator, and no person can truly know what is in the heart of another...however, it IS a core principle in Christian churches that salvation is through Christ-He said "i am the way, the truth, and the life. no one comes to the Father except through Me"...if someone has an 'issue' with that, then i would submit that their disagreement is with Christ

It is hard to see what the question is.
I don't think that we should think of hell as a place. It is a state, where a person is separated from God. This is their choice.
We don't know what happens to people from other faiths or what happens to people who have not had the opportunity to listen to the gospel. That is down to what we call the grace of God.
Repentance does restore the relationship but it is important that it is real repentance which involves a determination to live a 'good' life in future.
I can't say your experience is wrong because I don't know what children you have talked to and what they have said but I must say that my experience is that children who have been taaught about Jesus tend to respond positively and often retain a lot of that teaching in a loving attitude to the world and others.

"Christians tend to preach in Church that if you don't love Jesus you're going to hell."

Loving Jesus is not enough, we must have faith in Him and accept Him as Lord and Saviour.

"If you, murder, rape, and steal, but you repent and love jesus, you're going to heaven."

People who really repent and love Jesus will not do such things.

"So if a Jewish or Muslim guy gives to the poor on a regular basis and has never broken any of the 10 commandments in his life, he's going to hell anyways?"

Sorry to say, but yes, just read it in John 14:6. Jesus Himself is the only way to salvation.

I've never in my 60+ years of going to church ever heard anyone preach that you can go out and murder rape and steal then just repent and you will go to heaven. Heaven is obtained by confession of the Lordship of Jesus Christ based upon your belief in His ressurection.

Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Not so.

Looks like you have misunderstood the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

None of us can be saved by our own good works....for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 KJV).

Only God can save us from our sins, 'cos Jesus had paid the price for our salvation.

Edit:
True repentance is not just 'a little apology to God'! True repentance comes with a heart-felt remorse deep within the human soul & a desire to turn away from that sin...this is the sacrifice that God accepts and the sinner is thus forgiven.

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." (Psalm 51:17 KJV)

I have said this many times and still feel the same...

If we were all more spiritual then religious the would would be a better place.

In the end I think many will be surprised. There is way to much hate in the world and much of it is within religions.
People should learn to just love and be kind to each other before anything.

my brother will go to hell if he has never kneeled before the Lord Jesus Christ. it has nothing to do with race.

all of mankind has broken one commandment if not all of them... the 10 commandments are a chain suspended over fire... if you've broken one link, you've broken them all. God looks upon the heart, not the works of your flesh. Grace isn't earned, it is given. why does it matter to you if they did such things and then repented? God is their judge, not you. and if at last they obey the word of the Lord, why speak against them?

don't love Jesus because you may go to hell, love the Lord Jesus because He went through hell because of His love for you. that is true Christianity.
