These days, we get bombarded with Anti-Aging treatments. I am wondering, if any of you beauty guru's know if 22 is too young to start thinking about using Anti-Aging treatments. Obviously I don't have wrinkles yet, but could they work as a preventative treatment as well?

My bad, we don't get bombarded with anti-aging treatments, but with commercials for anti-aging treatments.

There is nothing wrong with preventing the signs of aging at a young age. A thing you need to be careful about is that the ones you use are not too harsh for young skin. Some are really concentrated with chemicals that are filled with collegan and other things for deep lines and wrinkles.
At a young age the things you really need to worry about is exfoliators (gentle ones), soaps or facial scrubs, toner, and a good moisturiser. you probably dont need night creams or eye lifting serums at this age, as its only trying to help with the wrinkles and lines now.
As you probably know the BEST prevention does not come in a bottle... believe it or not the 2 main things that cause serious aging in women are diet and the sun.
1. eating healthy, lots of water to keep the skin hydrated and exercise is the key to healthy glow to the skin...
2. The sun is the WORST skin damager. by applying a moisturise with a SPF rating or a tinted moisturiser or foundation, using a het or sunglasses and protective clothing all keep your skin from UV damage. Seriously it only takes 5 mins in the sun to damage the epidermis (the layer of skin under the top layer of cells). this penetrates deep into the cells causing permanant damage.

Absolutely not too young. I'm only 23 but have been using anti-aging products since I was 20. It's preventative, because I don't want to be wrinkly by the time I'm 30. Especially these days, with young girls going tanning or not wearing sunscreen regularly, wrinkles happen younger and younger.
Even if you don't necessarily "need" it yet, I figure, putting vitamin enriched lotions on your skin can't hurt, right? That aside, the reason I started using them was because when my skin would get dry and I was really stressed, the creases in my forehead would sometimes linger all day. I started using anti-aging products and the problem has gone away.
I'm sure a lot of women look back and wish they had had the foresight to start using these products to prevent the damage to the skin, instead of waitng until the damage was done, and literally written all over their face.
Edit: just wanted to say that the really expensive or fancy elaborate products probably are a waste of money, I'd just invest in a bottle or two of some sort of anti-aging serum or moisturizer.

You're never too young.
The thing is that many anti-aging products are just hyped up moisturisers. You need to be discerning about what you use.
The best anti-aging regime:
1) Broad spectrum sunscreen daily. Make sure it blocks UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays cause the most "aging" - I suggest doing your research at www.makeupalley.com
2) Using a cleanser that suits your skin. If it's stripping the moisture from your skin it's wrong! I spent many years using the wrong cleanser - I can't tolerate foams.
3) Use of a retinoid. These are the only things with any scientific evidence behind them to prove that they actually alter the look of your skin. You can get many kinds - some are prescription only. Again - do your research. Retinoids WILL prevent aging!
4) Sunglasses instead of eye cream. I personally don't believe in eyecreams. I think they are all hype and no substance.

Well skin regimens depend on your skin type so as far as recommending products its not possible without seeing your skin.. But in general .. it is true that if you use too many active, aggressive ingredients that you can actually do more harm than good. Also, many anti-aging creams are designed for mature, dehydrated, dryer skin types so some can be clogging on a younger skin. I would suggest going to a reputable aesthetician in your area who can check out your skin, determine your skin type and concerns, and recommend a good skin care routine.. Also make sure you are wearing your SPF every day and reapplying. Stay out of the tanning beds and out of the sun and you will prevent many signs of aging. The aging process does really being in your 20's, which is when your collagen and elastin start depleting.. its not a bad idea to start using some products that protect and strengthen your skin.

I used to work for Elizabeth Arden, and I know that you should not use the treatments intended for older skin!!! However, you should always take care of your skin. Falling asleep with make-up on takes 7 days age away from your skin. Always remove your make-up with facial cleanser, not soap (unless it's facial soap). It is best to use a toner and a moisturizer as well.

I started at a young age (early 20s) with Alpha-Hydrox a glycolic acid. I cleanse my face and use my Alpha-Hydrox and sunscreen and I never ever tan. I'm 40 years old now and I don't have any wrinkles or lines on my face. Good luck. 2D

on my opinion anti-aging creams, powders etc are all a load of crap. the commercials are just actors who put on alot of make-up to make it look like they are younger they probably dont even use the treatment. it is a con-game for you to get there product. ie. my aunt got poractiv a few months ago the 60 day kit. SHE SAW NO RESULTS. the only thing she lost was a couple of blackheads

you dont need anti aging creams. but you do need a good moisturizer and eye cream. i highly recommend clinique extra thirsty skin moisturizer and extra rich eye cream. use these products until about your early to mid 30s then think about anti aging creams.
